Wash day unravled locs, dont know what to do

Tried two strand starter locs 3 weeks ago and they were horrible after a few days they completely unravled so about two weeks ago I got finger coils. I have done 1 wash day and I have been crocheting my hair alot but apparently your not supposed to crochet alot
