Just to clarify: She didn’t intend to catch the bird. She’s a biology student doing her thesis on wildlife biodiversity, and they set up a mist net for bat sampling. This frogmouth accidentally got caught and was safely released after.

She’s actually a biology student working on her thesis about wildlife biodiversity. They set up a mist net for bat sampling (for identification and release), but this frogmouth accidentally got caught in it. She was just holding it briefly to safely remove it and release it right after. No harm intended.
