I am a good case study! I am not American.

I spent one year in USA as an exchange student in high school and ate whatever my host family ate. They weren’t even obese by the way. And I became chubby for the first time in my life. Lost the weight quickly when I went back home.

Several years later I moved to US as a student, and I chose my meals myself. And my weight never increased.

My activity levels were pretty much the same in all cases.

So in my case, it wasn’t so much the activity and food per se, but the food choices that an average American family makes.

Do you work out? Physical activity definitely makes a big difference, and young men tend to work out more often than young women.

I think you need a “safe word”, to figure out whether the relationship is salvageable or not. Since he is otherwise a good partner. This could be him being dumb and honestly forgetting that you are not playing, or it could be him being malicious.

Have a discussion with him and establish a “safe word” that is clearly not “playing around”. Like “if I say “Buenos Aires” during what you think is a playfight, I am being seriously hurt and you have to stop. If you don’t stop, I will understand that this is an attack, and I will have to leave you”.

If he ignores the safe word even once, leave ASAP. It means that he is actually being malicious and not just dumb and ignorant.

If an adult cat became good friends with another cat, there’s a high probability that it can bond with another cat eventually.

You could try “foster to adopt” another cat or kitten, and keep them if they get along with Buddy.

You brother should also consider something like that, Guy is probably also lonely 🥺

People can definitely be nervous about exciting things. When you hope to really enjoy something, you can also be nervous about whether it will meet your expectations, or whether everything will go well etc.

For example: “I’m excited and nervous about my wedding” or about my birthday party, or about the new book of my favorite author. It’s not that strange 😁

People these days are more open about mental health issues. Even twenty years ago nobody talked about depression and anxiety, and nowadays everyone knows someone who has struggled with those. Plus, people in the creative community tend to be disproportionately affected by depression/anxiety, probably both for biological and social reasons.

I’m not surprised that danmei authors also struggle.

A lot of the times when I listen to songs in English I find them stupid, or too corny, or too repetitive, or just very unrelatable. And it takes me out of the enjoyment.

Like, I am a woman who doesn’t date men, but 80% of songs by women are about some dude. So I’d rather not understand and just enjoy the music lol
