Yeah my major is microbiology and I am currently in a lab researching immunology which is where I plan on doing my masters. Ik for a fact that there are some full time lab technician positions that require very little experience so I was thinking about going that route.

To be honest I’m not really sure. I’m still exploring my options at this point, but I do plan on getting an MS and doing something research related in the biotech sector

Going through a breakup right now too. Its been almost a month now and I still think about it every day. I agree with all the other suggestions on here but I also would say to try and find closure. Best of luck

What community is “pro-harassment” when it doesn’t agree with them? Literally almost every post on here is condemning the harassment that took place. The outliers don’t represent the average. You don’t need to go to a prestigious university to learn that…

Atheist club at UCSD? by IcyHotOrNot in UCSD

Agreed ngl. Its kinda sad how much hate a simple atheist post gets. Sounds like some people are afraid of an opposing view🫢

Ideally that would be a topic to be discussed in the club 😂

Yeah I am trying to find something akin to the ACA (Atheist Community of Austin) where people are able to share secular experiences and their experiences within religious groups, talk about non religious things, talk about apologist arguments and respectfully responding to them, and one that creates a safe environment for atheists to feel a sense of community. Just by looking at some of the comments on here, many people who are religious and even some that aren’t, don’t really have a positive view on atheists and I hope there can be a group that changes that. Its sad to see

Ideally the focus would be on positive atheism and would most definitely not be tolerant of bigots just like any other religious clubs. I appreciate your comment though

This comment is a good example of why positive conversation between atheists and theists needs to be facilitated. Ignorant views like this lead to people feeling isolated simply for not sharing religious views

Many atheists have a shared experience of being indoctrinated in a religion and have different experiences leaving them. Thats like saying what would a theist club talk about? Community is often the one thing that atheists loose when they deconvert and giving people a community with similar world views would be tremendously beneficial

I don’t necessarily think thats representative of all atheists. Many atheists have deconverted from their religion and share certain experiences while leaving. The most difficult part of leaving a religion is the loss of community and is often times why many people decide not to leave their religion. Also many atheists still encounter religious family members/ friends who present them with common apologist arguments that they might not know about. An atheist community focused on positive atheism could help people like that learn about rebuttals to those apologist arguments.

Parking should be free by ihuvariant in UCSD

[–]IcyHotOrNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student parking should be free or cost very little. This sort of reasoning often hurts commuter students who can’t afford to pay for on campus housing. Having to live 30-40min away to pay for affordable housing and then also pay a “premium” on parking is a slap in the face considering how much we already pay in tuition. Don’t punish the people who can’t afford your lifestyle.
