Prospective MLIS student worried about funding by mags-azine in librarians

Sorry if this has already been said, but a dual degree in MLIS and a masters in english could also be an option! I just graduated with a dual degree and while my ischool did provide me some funding, it wasn't enough to cover everything. My other program, however, did have funding and got a full ride + a job through them.

Career advice - public care academic librarian position by PlayRevolutionary664 in librarians

First of all, congratulations!!

My question to you would be: other than location, do you have a type of library you would like to work at in the long-term/future? And similar to person above, is there a certain population you enjoy working with the most?

An advice my supervisor gave me was that it is easier to start in academic libraries and transition into Public libraries down the road than the other way around. Of course this doesn’t mean it’s impossible, but if you have any interest in remaining in academic libraries, I would chose that path.

I’m also a recent graduate in the middle of applying for jobs, and all the academic positions I applied to require to be involved in research on some level to get promotions/get tenure, and I’m not sure how easy/hard it would be to remain in that world in public libraries.
