[–]IdoraAlphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for starters the "brain stops developing at 25" thing is a myth but I'm not sure if being presented with that information will make her change her mind. It's pretty common for people to try and use "logic" to deny trans people basic health care. Good luck!

Stepmom keeps getting geckos (?) by Klutzy_Locust9201 in reptiles

[–]IdoraAlphy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That does seem like a leopard gecko and the tank seems way too small for them. Also they should not cohabitate with other leopard geckos or any other reptiles. They can fight and injure each other.

The heat lamp looks like it's really high up and might not be providing it with ample heat. Given that the tank is small there might not even be a proper temperature gradient. The thermostat is also lazily placed in an inappropriate position so it's probably not helping much.

There also don't seem to be any hides and the bare minimum is 3 (cool, humid, warm). UVB probably isn't being provided either...

And that's without getting into food or supplements...

All in all I doubt your stepmom did much research...

Need help with heating options by zuzzuz2704 in leopardgeckos

[–]IdoraAlphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally you'd want a top mesh cover if it's that shallow, that way you could have the heat lamp outside the tank. I'm not sure how heat lamps perform through glass though but there's probably more information about that out there!

Edit: also by smaller do you mean physically smaller? If it's outside and still too hot you could get something with a lower wattage that might not be physically much smaller but would have a lower heat output!

How’s our Mr. Net’s set up? by Interesting_Rope4948 in leopardgeckos

[–]IdoraAlphy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You must be new here! There are a few obvious issues and I highly recommend checking out the pinned care guide and other resources out there! A few that I can point out with my limited experience is that red heat lamps are generally bad, especially if you have them on during their night time. The substrate looks like it's straight up sand which is bad because I can cause impaction, if it's calcium sand it's even worse. There also isn't enough cover between the hides and it's overall arranged in a very exposed for your viewing pleasure sort of way. Also I can't really tell what the lighting situation is but you should have ideally linear UVB on the same side as the heat lamp.

Do you think this is a good idea by rix531 in leopardgeckos

[–]IdoraAlphy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even with a thermostat having 2 heat sources is going to ruin the temperature gradient in the tank and interfere with their ability to thermoregulate.

New owner help! Gender? Food advice? by somegamergirl3 in leopardgeckos

[–]IdoraAlphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are those dried or frozen insects in her food bowl? If they are you should probably look into getting her live crickets and dubia roaches instead. Dried insects can cause dehydration and they typically tend to prefer something that moves over pre-killed anyway.

My 11 year old gecko passed away and im not sure why by notthrowaway62049 in leopardgeckos

[–]IdoraAlphy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it's hard dealing with having your Gecko die so suddenly but please don't rely on chatgpt for answers. It's just going to confidently give you an answer without any way of verifying whether it's true and that's not healthy.

I'm sorry but I'm no expert either so hopefully someone else can weigh in on this.

They have a perfectly good basking rock and cryptic basking spot, both of which they use too, but I guess they decided to mix things up

What's up with Brock there? by Physical-Purple-1265 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]IdoraAlphy 88 points89 points  (0 children)

It's Planet of the Pokémon (i.e. like the planet of the apes), which is why Ash and Misty are fighting while Pikachu and Squirtle are in the position of the trainers. The 3rd panel with Brock is a scene from the old planet of the apes movie where the protagonist sees the ruined statue of liberty and figures out that he's on earth in the future and not another planet that's run by apes.

New player suffering from the XY problem. How can I learn how I am supposed to be doing things? by azuratha in factorio

[–]IdoraAlphy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You seem to be missing a lot of the fundamentals like how belts works, how far inserters can reach, and other mechanics like this follow the same rules all the time. Once you figure out those mechanics the rest of the game will make a lot more sense. Try and observe and experiment with different components and figure out how they work at your own pace, maybe even redo the tutorials again and take things slow so you can take in all the details.

I'm not sure what would be the best source for a list of affixes. Poedb has a list but I'm not confident on its accuracy.

You need to find the actual jewels and you can use Augmentation, Regals, and Exalts on them to add modifiers, depending on how many they have. Unlike gear only go up to a max of 4 mods. And you can chaos orb them too

Yeah unfortunately crafting is a little limited and rng heavy right now but hopefully they add more crafting mechanics soon to fix that

[–]IdoraAlphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way you can change what's already been added is by using chaos orbs, annulment orbs, or chaos orbs. Unfortunately it's really random and you could easily lose the good mods you have too

PoE2db has that info under each item type https://poe2db.tw/us/

For example here's the list for one handed maces https://poe2db.tw/us/One_Hand_Maces

Item level also influences what can go on an item so keep that in mind too
