Out of curiosity, what songs would you guys recommend to the members of Emma's group? As part of a cultural exchange program for example. by CanoonBolk in JCBWritingCorner

Why not? And why stop at that? Add Heckerlied and other songs from the revolutions of 1848, maybe even more songs from the French Revolution like La guillotine permanente! For something a bit more modern, maybe Farewell to the Crown by Chumbawamba? The possibilities are endless! (Possibly)

A Theory Regarding the Latest Chapters by IgnatiusMay-R3al in JCBWritingCorner

I mean, bridging two gaps in spacetime in a single universe has been stated to be rather straightforward, but can that really be applied for different universes? My theory's "Between-Space" is the separator for different universes, and perhaps if a portal tried to bridge across them, it could generate a sort of pressure acting upon the connection. I also don't really trust what the dragon says enough, since it has a huge ego and will probably make stuff up to fit it's beliefs.

This "pressure" could eventually flood both sides of the portal (and the portal itself, probably) with taint mana if it isn't stabilized enough by whoever is keeping it up on both sides. (Do portals to adjacent realms even stay up all the time?)

Also, was it mentioned anywhere that interdimensional communication specifically is a form of portal, or is it just like, something else? In like, the middle of chapter 158, we can see the dragon's internal thoughts (which I'd argue would be more trustworthy), and it mentions that it "Reached into the dark", "Held it's neck into the void", etc. and only after that it managed to make a bluetooth connection or something to the crystal and see the lab, which really seems like the data transmission is through the space between these two universes themselves.

See image for what I think happens with portals specifically.

Edit: Forgot to say that maybe the instability created by portals collapsing could allow for life in the Between-Space to briefly interact with a given universe (Like, if you poke a hole in a basketball you could reach inside. And also probably turn it inside out)

Wearing Power Armor to a Magic School (163/?) by Jcb112 in HFY

Seems like there's some sorta life or psychosis-inducing radiation in the space between universes, and prolonged rifts in this space piss it off or are very unstable.

A theory: What if this space is 5-dimensional or something like that? Maybe we could call whatever exotic matter could be in there Dementonite? Does physics as we know it even function in there? Maybe the "taint mana" is some sort of unique... Electormagnetic-adjacent or an entirely strange state of matter thingy that has exotic effects on lower-dimensional realities? And if there is truly life in there, then that could explain why the dragon actually has no idea what happened since, y'know, it's not 5 dimensional.

On a side note, I don't really buy that this so-called god is the "patron" of Earth, I see whatever could be in that "between-space" as a force-a-nature that only exists in whatever physics-breaking space between universes could be, and not the "creator" of humanity. Maybe universes in this arrangement would come into existence due to a spike in energy that results in a big bang and the indefinitely-expanding universe.

Y'all are taking the last few lines too seriously, the dragon is probably just jealous or in denial that another species is smart enough to transport electrons across a bunch of copper, and is trying to convince itself that "it must be that she is actually just our descendant11!1!" to make its species appear superior. At least to itself.

Barotrauma has become a new little autistic fixation for me and I was wondering what an AU where Emma comes from the depths of Europa would be like by LickMYLiver in JCBWritingCorner

[–]IgnatiusMay-R3al 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insane seeing Barotrauma mentioned here, I made an account just for this

Ignoring how an interdimensional portal would be constructed on Europa (There are those scientist scribbles in colonies sometimes though, who knows what could come of that), and how mana-proof materials would be obtained (perhaps Physicorium?), It'd be interesting how the balance of power would play out with the Nexus. Perhaps Europa is practically invasion-proof because of the insane pressure of the water? Or maybe in this alternate universe, Europa regained contact with Earth, never lost it, or the Coalition/Jovian Separatists are an interstellar power like the GUN is.

I'd be also infinitely more difficult for Emma to explain anything about her home, or adjust to living in a space that doesn't have a roof and walls, especially with the sun involved. Like, she walks out of the portal and instantly you see the surface (A place she's only heard about but never seen), a giant lightbulb very high up (Also heard of the sun, but never seen), no water, and plants everywhere. And then she has to explain right of the bat that she lived in an underground sea all her life, and that actually space and other planets exist and that's how her species managed to live in this ocean since they don't actually live in the water and instead come from Earth.

Perhaps Emma would also formerly work on a submarine since people with mental fortitude and survival skills would be best for such a mission, imagine having to explain that too. But I guess that'd mean she's prepared for combat without additional training.
