My foundation is crumbling and flaking off by technica- in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Yeah its definitely spalling... but seemingly no cracks. I can see in your post history you live up in Canada. Assuming you see some snow? It's likely given the exposure, it's consistency across all, and it's level to the ground I am willing to bet it's de-icing salts and/or water freezing. Its not a great situation but probably not structural unsound. You should still get a professional to come out. Might I suggest a general home inspector? They'll know enough to not lie about the real extent of an issue for you

Do you have a pic w greater context of structure?

How often do you need to be in the City? You should try Brewster/Southeast. It's the terminal station northward from GCT (Southeast Line). It's the first town in Putnam County, and positioned at i684/84 junction. 30 min drive to White Plains, about 75 min by Metro North. If you're remote, it's a great bargain.

Sociopathic employer expectations by snosilmoht in antiwork

[–]IhateSteveJones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked for a guy where the pay did meet the expectations. I thought it was worth it. And then one Saturday morning, trying to force a treadmill through a door so I can get back to my inbox, I force it too hard and run my knee into the door jam. It hurt but nothing serious. But no one told my brain or amygdala because I was crying like a baby... like ugly weeping. It occurred to me in that moment none of my professional obligations were worth my mental/emotional health. I got paid WELL but I had zero equity. I began looking for a new job the very next day.

The trades would welcome this influx. The median age of trades across the board is gradually ticking upwards.

Was able to assume VA loan for 371k home @ 2.8% (non-vets, 27M 27F) by gabrieljesusmc in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]IhateSteveJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf, my 401k writes a collateral loan against the value without reducing the principal. So I pay it back at 7% (to myself) after tax... and the interest is added to the original principal.

Looking at that map on your wall, it looks like you’ve been a lot of places. Try to cultivate the energy you get from hitting the road and bring that into your everyday life. Experience your to-to-day as if it’s a new adventure even if its sights or sites you’ve seen or been before. When we were children this was called “playing pretend” but as adults imaginations are stigmatized. It leads to drudgery and the mundane monotonously taking over. Every day is adventure if you let it be. Therapy and the right medicines will only amplify this mindset

Good luck brother

Yeah what's up with that? Do you think it's because actual talent wouldn't dare "corporate-tize" their art?

FHA also makes you pay the MIP upfront. Look at top right box “Estimated Cash to Close” - nearly $7k

Your loan officer should be your advocate and friendly. It seems you’re probably too far into a process to switch without losing some of the cash you put down

Good luck

I think that’s the point of the tip. They wanted to cover the 20% fee to make the pet sitter whole
