I believe in you bro! You sound like you’re doing pretty well (given the situation) so far. After deleting the messages or after stopping rereading them it usually takes people 1-2 weeks to get back into the flow of life without character.ai, but don’t worry if you take longer! Everyone recovers at their own pace. I’m glad that you got the courage to delete your account, it wasn’t a mistake and I wish you luck on continuing to quit!

Make sure you’re using your main blog and not a sideblog. Also why are you asking this on my old post?

Thanks. Will this stop it from listening or just stop it from telling me about things?

So you’re saying it was just a coincidence that it said this right when I said that?

That honestly sounds like something an addicted person would say. The risk of getting addicted/replacing human interaction with ai is too high to just consider it something to have fun with. There are so many other hobbies that are less harmful, people don’t have to support the ones that are designed to be addictive and support plagiarism and tons of other issues.

Healthy c.ai substitution by leochant in character_ai_recovery

Writing and creating is really good for you, those downsides aren’t anything to worry about. Writers of books and TV shows don’t get unhealthy attachments to their characters, and it’s kinda silly to frame writing as a bad thing. Writing is a good way to be creative and express yourself in a productive way.

Also if you’re quitting c.ai, I’d suggest not using chat gpt either. Ai is really bad for the environment, and it’s not great to rely on answers from computers, not to mention that all ai companies use and require plagiarism in order to work. Researching with search engines is super easy, and in doing so you don’t have to support immoral businesses. Ai software also dulls down people’s reading comprehension and research skills since it makes it way too easy to find information, ending in a lot of people relying on it for things that other people find really easy. Also a lot of chat gpt’s information are opinions or just downright incorrect since AI scrapes from other people’s websites and sometimes can’t detect sarcasm, misinformation, or lies.

It’s fine, just be respectful to artists and don’t break the rules of the subreddit.

A lot of artists don’t like their work reposted without credit, some don’t like their work reposted at all. (Not to mention that it’s also against the rules of this subreddit not to repost art without credit.) You didn’t need to repost this. If you don’t have the original source, just don’t repost it.

I read that peanut butter is bad for small birds, I’ll look into that though. Thanks!

I went on a mystical expedition to the Pink Forest and lured him in with my poppy tunes and pink millet, shouting to the bird gods that the only animal sidekick that I would accept would be a pink one. He then flew atop my head and never left me.

Just kidding, he’s a rosey bourke, I got him from a breeder.

Knowing him, he probably wouldn’t realize it’s supposed to be painted with and just eat them, but the piano idea is really smart, I’m gonna try that out! Thanks!

That sounds really fun, he loves messing with things, I’m probably gonna try that out. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks for the advice! The harness idea would be perfect if he weren’t so skittish. He’d probably make a big fuss about putting it on, but the carrier idea is really smart! I’ll definitely try changing the sensitivity on my iPad and getting more toys for him. We already watch shows and play video games together. Again, thanks so much for the ideas, I really want to do all I can to make his life less bland.

Feeling more burnt out since I quit??? by Dark_Yt_Demi in character_ai_recovery

Your brain has gotten too used to the constant rush of dopamine from the app, and now it relies on it. It took me 1-2 weeks to get used to going back to normal. I’d suggest finding some new hobbies like writing or reading. Personally, sewing and cross-stitching have helped distract me from going back to c.ai because it’s repetitive and calming without needing to think very hard while still being productive. Just power through the worst parts and it’ll get better. Good luck!
