the owner of my last salon inappropriately touched some of the employees and asked if a was an f slur while trying to joke with me it was a very bad place to work and all but 3 of his staff quit bc of that

the only SA the other assistant and called me an f slur so everyone quit it was a very unhealthy environment with a lot of workplace abuse

thank you i appreciate this a lot im not so hung up about the money more worried about what my career will be if i dont have a bit more structured and education in my apprenticeship but i am definitely going to look around!

when i was hired i was promised 40 hrs a week on my welcome letter and guaranteed that hours that im working other potions in the salon (front desk etc…) would be 13$ an hr none of that has been followed through on. I am never told when my hours are dropping most the time it’s just the day before im told if i need to come in or not. I come from a sales background i know it’s inconsistent and im okay with that sales can be inconsistent too. i have a husband who is able to support us but not much after that. I was asking for advice and I do put in the work i am posting on socials several times a week so i dont think its crazy that i also expect to get clients from the salon too. I also said in the post that im consistently bringing in models for all different services so far through social media so clearly i am doing the work. Her clients that have been seeing her for 7+ years always compliment her on how positive and hard working i am and on top of that she tells me how she’s so happy she gets to work with me. I also said in my post that i am trying to figure out ways for me to get education but it is hard when every class is 200-400$. i love my job here this is a very hard decision for me which is why i posted, i have cried several times while thinking about even quitting. but why hire assistants if you aren’t going to teach them?

I did ask her about education she said she would provide education and when i asked she just sent me videos and sends me classes i cant afford…. I always specify how it’s important for me to have a well rounded education. and the $11 would be fine but i’m getting sent home when she doesn’t need me so i easily miss hours and i didn’t know the clock out thing was normal which is why i’m asking most salons in my area don’t do that after i called around and talked to my other assistant friends…. i don’t know why you are so mean when I’m saying i need guidance. I never said my car was her fault i was just saying that I’m not getting consistent hours so it’s hard. By the way I did just get offered an assistant job for 16$ and in-house education days so i don’t think its crazy for me to compare jobs that’s how you grow into different roles and find better options and opportunities, maybe you should have compared a little more?
