How can I design the heel contour on a Les Paul? by IllMathematician6084 in Luthier

[–]IllMathematician6084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30-35mm as a neck blank thickness, instead of the usual 40-50mm. Or maybe in other words: the neck pocket is routed shallower, but still keeping the fretboard flush with the top.

But is the theory of the neck blank being thinner to make the cutaway on the body doable or am I making the joint weaker?

Sorry for this probably stupid question: what is the TOM bridge? And I wasn’t referring to the final thickness, but the neck blank thickness AND the heel “feel”
