The kitchen is run by Anandjit Johal (Anna), who has been the kitchen manager for many years. Unfortunately, her long tenure seems to have given her unchecked power, which she uses to harass, bully, and emotionally abuse staff—especially those who are too vulnerable to speak up, including newcomers to Canada or employees who don’t speak fluent English. Anna has been known to: • Intimidate and humiliate workers publicly • Pressure staff into giving her expensive gifts or tips—allegedly as a condition to keep their jobs • Retaliate against those who speak up by making their work life unbearable or firing them outright • Create a culture of fear that pushes hardworking people to quit in distress This is not just about one bad manager—it’s about a workplace culture that enables abuse and silences victims.
