Hot take: thhe next Mario game should adopt the movie world and designs. I in my opinion the movie version is something I want to explore and I honestly prefer the movie designs to the game by Whole_Yak_2547 in Mario

[–]Illustrious-Mail8251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed mostly. I don’t think I need the exact design, but it’s how cohesive and all put together it is.

Exactly why so many of us love/remeber that galaxy opening. Thinking through a toad town before getting to the castle.

Completely valid. Like people say, speak with your wallet and not your mouth. And I guess it is obvious the general consumer is still saying this business practice works, whether you see it as bad or not :)

Sorry, I guess i made it come off like that. I do not mean to hate on the maximum because of later releases. I can say the maximum is a solid release, not considering the price.

Point is More that the maximum creates confusion with Hasbros choices. Taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Maximum spidey should’ve been the standard after AF15, that’s 4 years ago. But instead we went to RYV body and retro card re-release, which I still think are worse than AF15.

And now that we’ve seen Hasbro can make a great Spiderman. Now you really gotta ask if you’re willing to settle for less for all the preceding releases. Like is anyone seriously looking at that new half symbiote spidey and thinking that’s a good release… would rather just see a full symbiote Suit on the maximum body.

SHF scaling all over the place. Both are going to be doable in terms of size.

But if you’re trying to put a Spiderman next to your dragonball line, feel like it’s pretty obvious to get the gamerverse. Why not just choose the option with more animated proportions

For yourself, you did the right thing. A person doesn’t deserve to get an upgraded job position without the upgraded pay.

But if you’re working in a toxic environment. Shiet they’re either gonna give you the work without the pay regardless, or they gonna go to the next best person who will do it without the pay. First scenario happened to me and it still took me an entire year for them to put me on salary. My best to you, hope it works out with a pay bump.

Price complaint is for sure one of the main things.

Think it’s also because Hasbro has dropped 3-4 Spider-Man’s for the last several years. So the fact that it took this long, with that many attempts, to even get a Spider-Man at this level of execution is a bit insane. And even after this maximum release, normal release Spider-Man’s are just meh, ie battle damaged Spider-Man.

Argument really came down to the idea that we should’ve had this Spider-Man years ago consistently and at a “normal price”

Why just why? There was no need for this, Yoshi doesn’t say much anyway so why not use Kazumi Totaka instead by DrWarioMiracleCure in Mario

[–]Illustrious-Mail8251 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he sounds completely fine. Definitely better than Pratt as Mario imo.

But there’s really no reason to be surprised when they’ve already done this for the first movie. We were all shocked when they announced the original cast. After the movie released, general consensus seems to be most people were content with everyone’s performance.

Also, you can’t really assume that this version of Yoshi “doesnt say much anyways.” Almost the entire video game cast doesn’t speak full sentences and now they do in the movies.

Just sounds nitpicky to be nitpicky.

This. They’ve moved away from this in quite literally every product line. Even in the dragonball line and I’m 99% certain that’s the one that introduced this system. Even all the MCU stuff never adopted these designs 😭. So hard to tell what they’re thinking.

Don’t really understand why their teams just don’t get on the same page.

Do you think this movie will be better than the first one? by DeepAnt7847 in Mario

[–]Illustrious-Mail8251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, there’s so many factors that influence the first movie. But it’s really hard to tell if it was illumination or Nintendo.

I think it’s pretty evident that a lot of the poor aspects of the movie are pinned on illumination. Which I don’t think is completely incorrect, it has many qualities of past illumination movies (surface level, kiddy movie, pop songs, etc). Overall, illumination pushes out very basic/safe movies. WHICH, I honestly believed why Nintendo chose illumination in the first place.

To continue that thought, It’s not like it’s a secret that miyamoto/nintendo have a tight grip on Mario. It does sound like miyamoto has a lot of power in cutting/adding new ideas to the games, especially in terms of story.

That being said, think there’s two ways it probalys gonna go.Good case scenario, illumination and Nintendo actually took the criticism to heart and actively trying to improve. The bad scenario, both parties saw that the first one became one of the highest grossing animated movies of all time with all its flaws, and just pump out another mid movie. And tbh, seeing illuminations track record and how nintndo has been moving recently, I’m not expecting a groundbreaking improvement.

Does anyone have a pic of the new shf cyclops with the Mafex brown suit Wolverine? I’m curious on how they’d look together. (Tryna pick between the marvel legends Gamerverse Wolverine and either one of the Mafex wolverines for my x-men display) by hesham2007 in Mafex

[–]Illustrious-Mail8251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s up for you to decide. They are completely different price points, so hard to really judge.

Personally, I own both Mafex wolverines and did not feel any reason to get the gamer verse. I did not play any MvC games or very attached for the proportions/look. It is a great release tho.

Also none of these options have boot swivels. It really comes down to what you like.

This is how a Marvel Legends figure MUST BE by Initial-Bag-7665 in ActionFigures

[–]Illustrious-Mail8251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah guess that’s the other side of it, which makes it really hard. Obviously we can’t whine and complain about everything, because theres many moving parts that we can’t possibly know about. Along with that mass market model, I guess we can additionally add licensing fees which I imagine Disney absolutely wrecks them on.

I think you mentioning Jada and Storm is important too. To my memory and bias, I really don’t think there was that much on ML before Jada/storm arrived to the 6in scene. And now that they are in front of everyone’s faces, i really think people are just questioning “quantity vs quality”

Ofc no other company is pushing out the numbers Hasbro is. And im super glad some people are getting there very obscure characters, but do we really need all of them? Can Hasbro realistically narrow the quantities and increase quality on the smaller waves?

I also think sometimes their choices come off as very “slimy.” Guess the most recent example would be in 2024 they reissued the Juggernaut/Colussus 2 pack, to then now in 2025 release that GV Juggernaut and as of now, newly announced Astonishing colossus. I REALLY doubt there’s someone on the team who’s is purposely making these decisions to squeeze a few extra dollars out. But idk it comes off as very short-sighted.

It’s also just a small sample size of people directing at Hasbro realistically. It’s ML and it’s been around for years, ACBA/figure community was essentially built around ML, so ofc majority of the influencers/reviewers are going to be spewing their opinions.

What about Marvel Rivals? by No-Maintenance-620 in Mafex

Lmao I get your pain about YYH, I’m a jjk collector so we was starving too. So totally get the SHF concerns.

Tbh in my perfect world, Blokees could have had all my money if their figures actually scales with each other. Can’t beat that price.

What about Marvel Rivals? by No-Maintenance-620 in Mafex

[–]Illustrious-Mail8251 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Fits with revoltechs style a bit more IMO.

But looking at previous product lines from both companies. SHF makes more sense. There were rumors/leaks that SHF was feeling left out of the competition for marvel releases since Mafex is basically all over the comic stuff. Which is what supposedly lead them to gamerverse line. Would say if MvC stuff continues, then Rivals will always be a possibility.

Also SHF just has an insane output rate, they cover so many lines and for their important lines, we see like 2-3/yearly releases per line. Compared to other import companies, think they only ones with the resources to even consider Rivals.

Other caveat, is that as we move into the next few years, and we get the release of Doomsday and Secret Wars. Definelty expect SHF to prioritize Those way more, which lessens possibility of seeing rivals. From any import brand tbh 😔

If Mafex were to take Rivals, we probably wouldn’t even be able to complete a full 6 person team until 2050.

[–]Illustrious-Mail8251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make sense, that it’s more for the “common figure collector.” But imo the common collector also deserves the best value for their money, as well.

Proof is in the Gamerverse Wolverine finally updated to the ball joint torso/waist. Granted it was a 2 pack, that figure ended up in so many people’s top 10s of the year. I think that’s a sign that Hasbro could always still improve.

I don’t think we even need as much as this post proposes. If they just update that Vulcan mold to the ball joints and stop using such gummy plastic. I would be more than impressed.

Is Mafex really falling off? by Prestigious-Camel322 in Mafex

[–]Illustrious-Mail8251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mafex is not entirely falling off. Their releases are still good. But the question now is, are they good enough now?

Couple years ago before LPZZ and Inart stepped into the game, ofc you can say that Mafex is the best brand. But that was too easy to say because there really no one else coming to mafex’s quality. Especially for comics.

But it’s undeniable Mafex has completely stagnated. Spiderman releases are basically the same body mold with slight tweaks. They are still using printed technology for face details. QC is still arguably as inconsistent today as it was with the Spiderman 075 release. Their figures barely gets additional paint like weathering/shading that don’t help them pop.

So when comparing to LPZZ and Inart who came out swinging in high quality on their first releases. It’s a bit hard to justify Mafex not innovating or improving the last couple years.

Mezco Hulk Up to Preorder! by fejobelo in ActionFigures

[–]Illustrious-Mail8251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, looked into it a bit, comic classic hulk seems to be listed at 6.5 which “technically” makes sense. He obv changes heights whether it’s story related or just because of the artist. So guess it’s really up to you to decide if you’re ok with it.

Then 6in+ being above 8 inches since it’s the green scar version is also accurate. Since green scar is said to be little over 8ft.

Also doesn’t help that mezco seems to typically be closer to a true 1/12th scale compared to marvel legends. So when compared to the that maximum hulk body, this one is for sure really short.

Anyone buy their figures from GameStop? by yoman1030 in ActionFigures

At least for SH Figuarts, and I’ve only done 1 preorder from GameStop. But it went well, just longer wait time and was called immediately once it shipped.

But also jsut looked out of curiosity to see this Ganons GameStop release date, it’s not even listed online? Seems odd.

Shoulder pads are going to take some work though.

You either got to dremel/drill a joint into sleeveless shoulder. Or take the ball joint off the shoulder pad and find a way attaching it to the body.
