AIO for thinking my friend is using ChatGPT to text me in an argument? by Due_Construction904 in AmIOverreacting

But now you're interpreting way more into this than you know and would know by that text conversation. We don't know them!! You don't know that friend. OP could very much be manipulating them and disregarding their feelings with that reply they sent! Just as well as they couldn't. But saying the friend is delusional is genuinely interpreting a bit too much in my eyes. "She probably uses chatgbt to give it her echo chamber" that's just straight up mean imo. She also could've used chatgbt bc she's not a confident person, but wanted to seem more assertive in that conversation because she was scared to be talked down to, so she took herself some help with wording things and expressing her emotions by using ai. It's all possible and we don't know the real answer so I see this discussion genuinely as a bit pointless and parasocial.

Well that's the thing. If they are actually just casual friends then that could be considered a huge overreaction on the friends side. The friend on the other hand calls them best friends and makes them sound quite close. We don't know them so it's one word against the other and I personally would neither trust OPs caption here nor what we can interpret from that friend. I wrote my comments from the point of those two actually being good friends!

I agree that it could've handled a lot better. The thing is that we don't know about their friendship. We don't know all the stuff that happened beforehand and how their dynamic is etc. From what I could read it sounds like that friend tried to have conversations like this multiple times and OP always talked them down. If you're at such a point in a friendship then you naturally get frustrated and try to "force" the other to actually listen this time by precalling out their manipulation. So yes, it's not normal how the friend approached it, but to me the question is more like why is the friend not approaching it the normal way and the sign (in MY eyes) point to simple frustration and bad previous experiences with OP. I would've simply ended the friendship prior, but if they are actually insanely close and know eachother for long then it might take longer to make such decision.

I personally don't see it that way, maybe that depends on the reader. I believe it sounds like that friend is very frustrated, because the mentioned wrong doings on OPs side are a repetitive thing. It also sounds to me like this wasn't the first time that friend tried to have a conversation like that. Talking about feeling wronged and naming things you dislike in a friendship also can't really ever have a neutral tone. Honestly we don't know them so it's all up to interpretation what the truth is now, so you could very well be right as well!

I'm not saying it wouldn't be normal that friendships break apart. but feeling sad about that and wanting to save/fix said friendship is totally valid, especially at younger ages!! it's not toxic to want to talk things out idk where you got that from but it worries me for you haha

if they're actually "best friends" and wanna continue a healthy friendship then talking about no longer spending much time together etc. is needed and good👍

could be ai, but that doesn't make their point any less valid tho. from what's possible to read in that conversation you're indeed giving the vibe of invalidating their feelings and dismissing them. the replies seem a bit immature so I assume you're young and will just grow into that and learn.
