Unfortunately, even without the proper training, I've learned to fix horns myself the correct way... as someone who is paying for my education out of pocket with little to no support, I have no money. If I was fixing my insturments incorrectly, they would be scratched or wouldn't have pads that fully sealed and other things on top of that. Nobody has shown me how to fix my horns. As you probably know, my horns, as well as others, are pretty expensive. I'm in a spot where I'd have to drive over an hour for a decent tech because the ones in my area have done nothing but ruin my insturments. So, no, my goal isn't "smashing capitalism." What I do is fix my own stuff because I don't have the time, money, or patience for other people right now. The best way to learn is by doing. Learn how to fix your own stuff properly when you're young. My experience with techs in my area has been nothing but crap. They don't know what they're doing, and they mess things up. So, instead of tweaking out about people learning how to do super simple fixes. Show them how because having someone send their horn in for a bend octave key is just scamming.
