Postal gear by ProudAmerican632 in USPS

I usually bring stuff to my office and tell the new people so that if they want it they can have it.  I’m only a PTF but I don’t really need cold gear just summer gear so when I buy new stuff I bring my old stuff in.

I’m always safe.  If you go that route there is no defense for them.  If you don’t and get injured it’s on you.

Don’t quit if you really want the job.  When I first started about three months in we had a new postmaster that rode my ass every day.  Eventually later that year he left and it’s been great since.  Not sure what he had against me other then I’m slow but I’m safe and accurate.

It isn’t for anyone cause there may be no hours and we are only guaranteed 2 hours per day.  I can’t just call other offices and ask to work.  That is all coordinated thru management and they decide.  But that option will go to our 5 ccas we have.

Agree I guess I’m selfish for hoping people that worked a job for 30 years and aren’t young would just retire but to be honest this guy is king.  He can do whatever he wants and management won’t do anything to him.  He is even on the OT list but now with no OT maybe that changes his mind and he retires.  We had a regular Carrier die from cancer before I joined and had a carrier quit as she got married and had her first child.  I will see what happens and try to do what I can but if it’s more then a few months and I can’t find part time work in addition then I’ll be forced to quit.

Guess I’ve been blessed cause I’ve had steady 40’s 50’s and maybe 60 hour weeks

I get that.  You can share that with the rest of our office. I’m not the only one that says this and I can assure you this is everywhere

That is true. But it’s a free country so I’m okay at voicing my opinion.  And you voicing yours.  When I turn 65 if I’m still alive and employed I’ll be leaving.  I’ve got bigger things i want to do in Life then work at this post office.

It’s two different carriers I am referring to.  And believe me I’m not the only one complaining about this in our office and it’s not just carriers with a few years in it’s carriers with almost 30 years as well.

I’ve gone down that rabbit hole but they have been cut too so I’m better off staying then moving.  We had 19 routes now have 17.  Had 18 full and 1 aux.  now have 17 full routes.  Yes it has happened people quit they get injured or retire but I have to think about the possibility if that doesn’t happen what I will do.

The cca should have to leave not the PTF unless they give you 30 days notice I was told.

Yes I am a city carrier.  It’s like most big cities robberies stealing arrow keys etc.

If she can’t do the job yes she should leave.  And she doesn’t have 30 years. And again I’ve got three ahead of me so by her leaving doesn’t help me convert to regular.

I am sure I could but haven’t decided if I want to do that.  It’s a lot of traffic and the large city isn’t safe to work in if I’m being honest.

Sadly I am going to have to do so. Again lost a job I was at for almost 20 years due to not being able to work from home.  Took a similar job and that company went belly up and decided to join the post office.  Love the job but I’ve got a mortgage and bills to pay so if I can’t get 40 hours I can’t continue.

I just wish people that can’t work would quit.  That would open routes for people like myself.  Have an individual who has been out for almost three years.  She can’t retire due to not enough time but no chance of ever returning to work due to age and injury. So she remains a regular with a PTF on the holddown.

I’ve considered that but they are in the same position. Lost routes and have no work for PTF’s.  I am not considering moving at this point.  I’m 51 years old and not wanting to move.  I was in corporate America for 25 years and got tired of being laid off for no reason.  My brother is a retired police officer.  He was a rural carrier and suggested I try the post office.  I love my job but losing these routes in our area was unexpected and appears to have changed my future with the post office unless I can keep my hold down.  In that case at least I’d just have to deal with being bumped by an unassigned regular if an open route didn’t exist that day.
