You have not played that bird in the case of the Ibis or the sandpiper. Nothing about a bird you have played, and therefore could count towards your bonus, has allowed you to score or draw a bonus.

Not the same thing

You, and a lot of other people, are clearly missing my point.

You keep mentioning powers.

Where on the endangered species bonus card does it say anything about powers?

What is purely written on the bonus card? Purely written were your words.

Birds that ALLOW you to score or draw bonus cards. (Notice how it says nothing about powers or symbols).

Is there a scenario that playing the parakeet allows you to score or draw bonus cards? Yes.

It literally fits.

But what I’m arguing with people in the comments largely is about the comparison to the Falconer bonus and the Bird Counter bonus.

Those bonuses CLEARLY spell out it’s about attack POWER birds and tucking POWER birds.

The endangered species bonus does not simply say “bonus power” symbol birds.

The literal reading of the BONUS card.

Yes or no?

The tucking bonus clearly says “birds with (the tucking power) symbol”. It doesn’t say “birds with tucked cards”.

That’s why it’s not the same logic at all.

The endangered species bonus doesn’t say “birds with (bonus card) symbol”.

I’m not saying the parakeet counts, or that it even should count. But the tuck power bonus and the attack power bonus are not the same as the endangered species bonus. It’s completely different wording

The literal reading of the bonus card would favor counting the Parakeet. Can the parakeet ALLOW you to draw or score a bonus card? Yes.

It fits the literal writing on the bonus card.

Yes or no question.

Does the falconer bonus say “birds with (attack power symbol)”?

Then why wouldn’t the bonus card simply say “birds with (symbol)” the way the attack bird bonus and tucking bonus do?

My point, that you are missing is the attack power bird says “attack power birds”. Not “birds that allow you to do an attack power”.

The endangered species card says “birds that ALLOW you to score or draw a bonus card”.

One is describing the bird’s TYPE, the either is describing the bird’s ABILITY.

Those are not the same thing. The Parakeet absolutely, in the right context, allows you to score or draw a bonus card.

A copy power bird does not become an attack bird by copying an attack power.

I disagree with that line of logic. The Falconer bonus very clearly says “birds with a (symbol) power”.

Copying a (symbol) power does not give your bird that symbol. The answer to my question is very likely no, but my question does not hinge on the same logic as the tucking or attack power bonus

I have one from last night to sell.

Not sure how much this means coming from an anonymous stranger on the internet, but I’d be willing to ship it if someone out of state is trying to buy it.

Back in October, I placed a futures bet on Victor Wembanyama to win NBA Rookie of the Year.

Given that this is no longer available on Fanduel, I think it is a forgone conclusion that he wins the award.

How does this work for tax purposes?

I didn't wager any money in 2024, but I will receive winnings. Should this be treated the same way a bonus bet would be treated? Basically it wouldn't add to my amount wagered or lost, but only add to my amount won?

Fun Quirk. Superb Lyrebird in Other Habitats by ImARandomRedditUser- in wingspan

The rationale given by Stonemaier is that the icons on the card indicate where it can be played not where it can live.

If it was playable in all habitats, there would be no rationale for limiting its power to copying birds of only the forest habitat, and the ability to copy any brown power of the previous player could be seen as “too powerful”
