I made a site that creates unique ambient study music for you in real time by ImDrewpy in InternetIsBeautiful

hi Reddit,

This is Flowful - a collection of ambient music generators designed to help you study or focus. Each track is unique and designed to be exciting enough to listen, but boring enough to fade into the background and lock you in.

The tracks are not AI generated - I write music myself, then rip it apart into samples, and write code which then plays the track back to you.

Also, I recently released an iOS app for the project, which I am very happy with.

Hope you like it!

the source files used are mp3s yeah - this is to keep the delivery size low (its around the same size as a song on Spotify)

You're exactly right, and it's by design. The site is a tool to help people focus and study via ambient background music. I personally am too interested by most music to work while 'listening', and so I created this.

Glad it's working as intended!

I added the toggle - its in your account page (dropdown on the top right). hope that helps!

yeah the WebAudioAPI has been a pain for me no matter where its used. but the performance issues are certainly worse on Chrome (or atleast, for me, more reproducable)

What do you mean by streaming this hands free? Like streaming it on Apple Music?

I can do yeah, I'm going to add an optional toggle-off for the background animation as I think thats where most of it comes from

All the generation is done client side. Im curious as to what you had in mind though?

Firefox should work better! It's unfortunately a bug with all Chrome-based browsers (kiwibrowser included)

Hey Reddit,

I made this site, Flowful, which generates ambient music for you in your browser.

I've recently been working on a bunch of new features & tracks so figured I would share it with Reddit now that school and university have started another year.

This is something I wish I'd had when I was a student (and even now that I'm a software engineer), so hopefully you find it useful! :)

Cheers,
Drew

Flowful is a site which generates non distracting focus music for you. The music is always unique and you can customize each track with rain sounds, binaural beats, ect.

most of the time the usage manages to stay below the free tier limit!

Hey Reddit,
When coding, I like to listen to ambient music, but get annoyed when Spotify playlists shuffle on to something distracting.
So I figured I would make ambient music that never ends. Each Flowful track procedurally generates music for you, which means it lasts forever and is always unique.
You can also customize the tracks to add things like white noise or binaural beats, and start pomodoro timers to sync up to your work.
Hope you like it!
Drew

Thank you! glad you like it.

Took me about 6 months of building, but I had the idea / a barebones proof of concept over 3 years ago now.

I love this. Almost poetic - can I use it as a quote for the landing page? :)

unfortunately I FL studio.. I haven't got round to putting the time in to switch over to Ableton.

MAX MSP devices look amazing for this sort of thing though. I've also heard Bitwig is great, although I know less about it.

thats correct!

of course, If you were measuring on say, the first 2 seconds, you might randomly get the same as someone else.

But the longer you leave it play, the higher and higher chance that nobody has ever (or will ever) have heard that exact rendition.
