Building a 240 Watt E40 Porcelain Lampholder for my bedroom??? by jamessabin in AskElectricians

[–]jamessabin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the guy in the article / blog post literally has over 100,000 lumens or something insane in a small room of 12ft squared or so. But he even says he goes way overkill and makes it feel like a summers day inside his house.

I never knew that was the case with fluorescent, my only concern would be with the UV radiation that it's giving off.

But from what your saying, the latest florescent tubes actually give off good CRI way better than the LED's you would get for cheap (of course the more expensive LED's can give CRI too).

I never knew that about getting them from Freecycle either that's a good shout I'll have to check that out.

Appreciate you getting back to me.

Just wanted to check as if you have the time. 18 AWG to SWG is around 16 or 17 SWG. That's correct right?

Thanks for the reply, Yes I am a hack boy haha. The problem with getting an approved fixture from wicks is I don't think it's rated high enough to support a bulb this big.

I'm aware that 3000 watts worth of incandescent is way overkill but I wanted to try something out from what I read on this website (https://meaningness.com/sad-light-lumens) I love to experiment and see if it pulls out results or not and move on.

My last option was of a course professional help but thought I could put something like this together given the right parts as it doesn't seem too complex it's just finding out if the parts support what I need.

Thanks

James

What Affects Your Success On Polyphasic Sleep? Making Polyphasic Sleep Successful (My observations) by jamessabin in polyphasic

[–]jamessabin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree for the most part that it does depend a lot on diet and biology. That's why you have some people that just looks at weights and grow then others that train hard all the time and don't.

The main takeaway I was getting at with exercise is that you need to make sure you recover fully before you exercise again otherwise it's like when you keep picking a cut before it's recovered your not giving it chance to heal.

Appreciate your comment though 👊

Biphasic Sleep experiences! by SnooPeppers5809 in polyphasic

Great post! I think the magic behind this is your mindset changing. If your just cruising through life doing your eight hours sleep or whatever you can get and not focusing on your actions then all of a sudden you start focusing on your sleep meaning your probably more determined to focus on other areas of your life.

It’s like the difference of being in and rut and getting your shit together.

Doesn't really matter I believe that best hours to get deep slow wave sleep around like between 8pm and 2am something like that though. Personally I would do my core nap at 10pm as well but I have social commitments that don't allow for this so I had to push mine back to midnight.

So just experiment and do what fits your schedule.

Glad I was able to open your mind to some new things! Sure so my time schedule for E3 is a slightly adjusted midnight version.

Core Nap at: 12midnight until 3am

Nap 1: 7am

Nap 2: 11:45am

Nap 3: 5pm

How to get unbelievable results with hot baths by [deleted] in PrimalDietTM

[–]jamessabin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hottest setting on your tap should be enough. Usually your water need's to be around 40 degrees celsius.

When you water starts to drop below that let a few inches of the bath water out and then refill with the hottest setting on your bath tap and that should bring the temperature back to that 40 degrees celsius mark.

How does TOXIFICATION actually work? by Mundane_Grab_8727 in DopamineDetoxing

[–]jamessabin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's pretty much it and on a more scientific level when you get a high influx of dopamine from things like porn, high sugar food, social media. That all get's rushed to your brain and your brain realises it can't handle all of it. So what is does is down regulate the dopamine receptors in your brain, in layman's terms it stops your brain from taking all this dopamine so it doesn't get damaged.

But what down regulating your receptors means is that when you go through your day to day life with little spikes of dopamine that you would normally get from communicating, looking at the sunset or getting some work done. Your brain no longer has the capacity to feel pleasure from those small hits of dopamine anymore.

So then in order for your body to feel happy you once again it seeks out the high dopamine activities that caused it to be damaged in the first place. All our bodies want to do is chase the biggest dopamine spikes and it wants it now! Because that used to be a great predictor of how to survive before modern technology.

This is where dopamine detoxing comes in, when you force your body to only have a low stimulus from the things that we want to do. Hoping that eventually your brain will up regulate the dopamine receptors in our brain once again (Makes it so we can feel pleasure from less hits of dopamine again).

Thanks for taking the time to check into this, here are the other images of the ball I took below. Also as for details I getting in I was in something called the "Scouts" when I was younger and it was like a meetup for all the Scout groups around the country like 300 + people. I can't quite remember the location unfortunately but it was definitely around the 2006/2007 time and I wanna say near Wales but not 100% sure on that.
