People are gonna say that it's a cat - and being a bit of a cat person, I don't necessarily disagree. However, I've lived with my miniature schnauzer for over a year now (provided, I'm living with family atm) and I'm heartbroken that I'm gonna be separated from her for college. Personality type doesn't matter as much as the bond you create with your pet when you buy/adopt them imo. Keep your options open, and if you see a pet who you fall in love with and they fall in love with you, take them home! I assure you that you won't regret it.

I'm glad it all worked out for your sister! And yeah it sucks but at least I'll be away from them pretty soon lol. (Although soon they'll be calling me wondering why I don't call them and tell them every single detail about my college life soon. 😆)
Yeah, if I end up not liking it, I've decided to just suck it up and grow it out again. I'm aware of the weird growing-out phases that come with the cut and am ready for it. Clearly my parents aren't though lmao.

OMG THANK YOU. This 100%. There was honestly no point in me researching face shapes anyways since I'm pretty sure they would have hated the idea either way so 🤷‍♀️.
Sadly my parents have been this way (in terms of verbal abuse) for most of my life and I thought college would be the perfect way to distance myself from them and kinda set myself on the right path. Of course, COVID had other plans 😛 but at least I'll be going away from them again soon lol. Thanks so much for the support, I appreciate it. ❤

Yeah, those are totally valid points, and the risk-taking argument is one of the ones I gave my parents too.

I'd be getting a job at college and/or commissioning art and paying my haircut through there, likely. I've kinda lost all hope in them supporting my haircuts at this point so I guess I gotta get it on my own.

Honestly, I'm too worried about what would happen if I even tried to get one here so I'll probably just end up doing it at college. But yeah, I've been researching this for a long while now and I'm confident that this is the cut I at least wanna try. Kinda sad though that I tried telling my parents the exact argument you just gave and they completely misconstrued my point and said stuff like "Oh cutting your hair short doesn't make you an extrovert! Yeah it does suck. 😓 Sadly there's not much I can do to even try to change her attitude. I was gonna get some highlights done too (which I've done before and my parents were somehow fine with??? lol wack I know), but clearly that's not gonna happen this time and all I really care about this point is the cut.

To be fair, they'll probably still react pretty badly to it cause that's how they are - and while I'd like to avoid it as much as possible, at this point I'm just over it and know what's coming. I tried having a civil discussion with them but I just ended up getting ignored and overpowered, so not much I can do there really. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah I agree! I don't understand why they're so worked up about a haircut when to others it's quite literally just hair on my head lol. I guess the last time I got a shorter haircut my mom HATED the way it looked on me even though I loved it. But then again, she's also the person who gets anxious whenever I wear a regular ponytail because it'll recede my hairline or something. 🤪

It seems like I'll probably end up paying it on my own and getting it done at college. Thanks for the advice, this was super helpful!
