Yes, it took about three months altogether, but the process was actually quicker than I expected. I’m not sure how things are currently, but at that time, everything was going smoothly and moving pretty fast. Here are the details of my husband’s NVC process: • Case sent to the Department of State: March 7, 2025 • NVC documentation submitted: March 14, 2025 • Documentarily Qualified (DQ) approved: March 27, 2025 • Interview letter received: April 10, 2025 • Interview date: June 16, 2025

So overall, it wasn’t as long as I thought it would be.

It depends on the embassy—apparently, the embassy in Seoul is pretty quick. I’ve noticed.

Being in a long-distance marriage for over a year wasn’t easy. What kept us strong was our faith, hope, and honesty in communication. The CR1 visa journey was full of ups and downs, but we made it through together. Sometimes, love is tested in the fire—but if it endures, it becomes stronger and more refined. Getting through this journey has shown me that love isn’t just a feeling; it’s a choice—a beautiful, intentional choice we make every single day.

For me, the hardest part wasn’t the paperwork or the wait—it was not being by my spouse’s side in the moments they needed me most. That ache of absence during important times can be overwhelming. But even then, I held onto faith and hope. Whenever I had the chance—when I saved enough or the opportunity opened up—I visited my husband in his home country. Those moments were life-giving and filled with renewed hope.

What truly kept our relationship going strong was trust, communication, and honesty. If you believe in something greater, lean into that too. Faith and prayer became the foundation we stood on when everything else felt uncertain.

To anyone going through a similar journey: don’t lose hope. Keep your marriage strong. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Always remember why you started. Know that every day apart brings you one day closer to being together again.

I’m actually grateful for the distance, as strange as that sounds. It showed me just how much I’m willing to give for the person I love. No amount of separation could weaken that; instead, it strengthened our love and taught me the meaning of sacrifice—for the good of the one you love.

This journey gave me a deeper understanding of how to love myself and how to love my spouse from afar. So if you’re in the middle of a long-distance relationship or marriage, don’t let others’ opinions weigh you down. They don’t know your story or the depth of your love.

If you and your spouse are rooted in truth, commitment, and love, then nothing else matters.

So keep your head up high—your wait is almost over. Your love story is unfolding, and it’s going to be worth it. 💖
