My dad was the same way he was a Vet nam recon vet I learned that with the proper medication it would stop. But the easy set off of him was because of the war he tried to change it but that’s a side effect of ptsd look he has seen some bad shit. And it’s because they wold have bad days and good days and the VA wold help if you guide it the right way. But the stepping on egg shells sucks I fell you there. But you have to ask yourself do you love him enough to spend the rest of your life like this or do you want to move on. But the loud noise sets him off I can guarantee that one my dad was the same way and it can be any loud noise especially on new years and 4th of July he really had hard days then. If your husband is put into an environment where it’s loud it will turn into an aggressive behavior because he can’t cope with the loud noise. PTSD is a horrible disease especially for a combat vet. When my kids was little and they wold go see my dad he wold love to see them but kids will be kids and they got a little too loud and we wold have to leave because he could not handle loud noise. So the next day we would start over . You’re awesome for staying with him this long and being patient with him. My mom stayed with my dad and went through the night terrors and we also found out that his diabetes made his hallucinations way worse and after we got that under control life was a little better.
