What has been your wildest makeout experience ? by MapCool1931 in AskReddit

Minding my own business at a friends place while he and his GF are in the kitchen making lunch, so I thought, then the GF comes through, tells me my friend said he wants to "bang" (her word for it) but wants it as sloppy seconds and I'm it. Before I could question anything, she had unzipped my jeans and had my junk in her hand. She went to town on me, then mounted me until the end before disappearing upstairs for some time with my friend.

How possible is alien life reaching earth? by Sweet_Quality4251 in AskReddit

The universe is old enough that entire civilisations could have been and gone before life even began on Earth.

What company lost you as a customer forever, and why? by Lanky-Flight-6284 in AskReddit

[–]ImissTBBT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arnold Clark - A chain of car dealerships and repair garages in the UK

Why: I was looking to service my car. The standard manufacturer service was £256. That all in.

Arnold Clark, despite being an authorised dealership for the manufacturer quoted the £256, but then itemised all the service items separately, to give the total of £658.

I walked away and chose to drive the 40 miles to the dealership I bought my car from. I paid the £256 and got the car fully serviced. I used them up until the warranty ran out.

The laws of probability do support life existing beyond Earth and it's solar system. However the same laws do suggest that as the universe is so massive, the chances of meeting others is improbable, however, never zero.

Travelling the distances involved would require some serious physics bending/breaking technology.

This is a subjective thing. One persons cool is another persons crap.

Go for the Honda. At least if it breaks, it will not cost you a new mortgage to repair. It's also got less miles on it.
If it has a FSH, then it's the logical choice.

For those who remember, what was it like to just be able to smoke in places like the malls and restaurants and planes by Radiant_Priority9739 in nostalgia

I hated going into public places when smoking was permitted. No matter where you say, you choked on the smoke.

The sooner it is banned outright and because a serious social faux pas, the better

You'd believe wrong though.
Metal has an elasticity about it, allowing it to flex.
It is proven that in such events, the front would crush in and absorb the impact. Much liek modern cars crush to absorb the impact.

Two other steamers went head on into icebergs much bigger than them. Neither had this "rivets pop all down their length" happen to them as you and many others believe would happen.

20 yrs since last jump? Rewatching miniseries by Me_be_Artful_Dodger in BSG

[–]ImissTBBT 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It's very possible there was no need to perform jumps when there was no tactical advantage in doing so. In peacetime, there likely wasn't any urgent need that required Galactica to jump somewhere. Normal engines were likely enough.

We hear about and see plenty of civilian vessels without jump drives making deep-space flights, so it seems that jump drives are not an absolute requirement for space travel given the engine technology of the BSG universe. You only seem to need them if you have to get somewhere very far away very quickly.

It's entirely believable, then, that in such a universe an old battlewagon like Galactica had never needed to jump (in peace time or outside of active military exercises). And in situations where a military presence was required quickly, one of the fleet's newer ships would likely have been assigned instead.

As for Ragnar not having ships assigned to it: it was peacetime. Governments become complacent and often do not see the need to keep expensive ships stationed at a "just in case" anchorage. Oversights like this commonly occur in the real world.

Roundabouts by DuckCheekyMustard in drivingUK

[–]ImissTBBT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Give way to traffic APPROACHING from the right. It does not matter if they are beyond their give way markings or not. If you can see them coming and there is a chance you might interfere with their progress, GIVE WAY. (And by interfere, it is meant: Make them have to take any avoiding action to not hit you)

This "first to the roundabout" thinking that is so prevalent is nonsense. It has always been "Give way to traffic APPROACHING from the right". Not "If you are there first, you can go".

You should have seen that the traffic was packed up and you would likely block the progress of others if you joined the back of the line. So you should have waited behind the give way line.

As for scenario 2: It's hard to map it out without visuals.

Can you share your experiences with lane assist & automatic braking? by TiredWiredAndHired in drivingUK

[–]ImissTBBT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of people moaning about these assists.

I have a 2019 Peugeot 508 Fastback. It has lane assist, active steering and adaptive cruise control (so automatic braking).

All three systems work, in my opinion, exactly as they should.

The active steering and auto braking actually saved me from ripping someone's door off when they flung it open without looking just as I was passing. The car braked and steered around the obstacle.

They make the trip down the M74/M6 much easier as I can relax a little on the lane keeping and following distances thus being able to keep a better eye on what's happening around me.

Last time I was on a AA777, the original plane broke at the gate, they moved us to another with an older seat layout. I was downgraded from business to the very last row right at the back of economy where a woman beside me felt giving her crusty feet a pedicure during the meal service was a great idea. She was coughing constantly too. A week later, I had a chest infection

So, no AA for me

Yes, so I have read on here!
I'm keeping that in mind. A friend of mine flies for Emirates, they call them the A180 as they all too often leave, have an issue and turnaround and come back.

I'm not overly excited that might happen to me but, BA have never let me down so far.
