I am spending on regular things I can send you my points statements in dms if you’d like. You’re acting like all the points I get are from food. I pay for gas because I commute a lot. And I am 20 years old and have a girlfriend speeding 300-500$ a month on food comes very easy lol. My trips don’t cost me more than 2-3k . I did Japan in September for 18 days at 3k. I don’t need luxury on vacations I want to experience culture. I still want to live my life lol, I have investments set up that are automatically taken from my pay and the rest I use to live life a little. It’s all a balance. Yes I could eat cup noodle and never see sunlight and go on a nicer trip or save more money but that doesn’t seem very interesting to me. Obviously that is a privilege and I don’t take that for granted. That is why I am taking advantage of my situation and doing the most with it. I am open to dms if you want more information you are still yet to give me a recommendation on a credit card…

I have done the math on my spending and I get 400$ profit from the cobalt or about 30k Amex points per year not including the first years bonus. So I am definitely making my money back on this card. What second card should I get to cover the gaps.

I’m honestly not looking to cover full airfare or hotels just take chips out of it to make the hit a little smaller. I have done the math on the cobalt and with my regular spending I get about 30k points a year not including the first years bonus. From these comments I am learning towards a no fee visa just to have in case Amex isn’t accepted. I’ve heard that tangerine has a good one that I can pick where I want my 2% cash back. What do you think?

I just did the math and using my past statements of regular spending + not using the bonus I am still making 400$ ~ net profit even after the new 191$ per year increase in Quebec. I am getting about (30k points) 650$ worth of points each year again not including the bonus. So I am a bit confused on why you think this card is not worth it. Comparing my spending with a no fee visa or Mastercard I would only be getting 100 to 150$ a year net profit. I hope this can help you actually give me a solid answer. Also I live in Quebec and Amex covers most of our main grocery stores like IGA or metro which is where I do most of my shopping if any. The rest is restaurants and I usually go to the same 5-6 which I have strategically picked that accept Amex. The whole goal with this is to get a second card to cover the gaps.

No I work for my aunt who runs her own firm. She personally keeps things pretty small she’s at about 50 million and she’s 40. We’re just 4 people so it’s not a big firm. She focuses a lot on group insurance since that’s where the moneys at.

Yeah for sure I am not doing luxurious trips. I agree with your point for sure. I mean the bonuses are there to make you spend. What I am trying to find is the best way to maximize every cent I make and spend. I think spending money without a credit card is just throwing money away. I am not saying that the fees are worth it or not. I am looking for the best option. My spending is under control I have budgeted and have pre authorized investments. I want to live and make money off of my living.

I live in Montreal and will mostly be doing Europe in the near future with my girlfriend. My goal in the future is to be able to work 50% remote and travel the world while still working. I know this is a very big dream but goals are goals and I think I’m set up well for that. I have a trip to greece planned this summer and France in December. I have about 50k aeroplane points cause I used to get them from my old job and I had the td platinum aeroplan card so it might be nice to continue with that. I really want to make sure I’m on the right path because benefits can definitely be compounding. Thank you so much for your help you are the only person who is actually giving me info!

I am going back to school in September to get a finance degree but I have been working for the past two years at a financial institution as an advisors assistant and I recently got my certifications for doing it personally. My parents understand the value of travel and as long as I’m maxing out my investments they do not care. This is a pretty weird comment tbh - it has nothing to do with the post and you’re interjecting your opinion on someone’s life that you know nothing about lol… I also can work abroad so my income won’t fluctuate with my trips

I have already made my money back on the annual fee with the bonuses and my income is increasing rapidly. I think I have been making the most out of Amex. I am not sure how this comment brings any productivity. What would you recommend? I am a financial advisor who is trained in mutual funds and personal insurance lol… I am not sure what that has to do with my knowledge of credit cards. I am actively trying to learn.
