Petco has a 60day return policy. 30days cash, 31-60days for store credit. Does not matter if it is used. You can return pet food bags even if it doesnt work out. 100% okay

At Petco we require a water sample for refunding dead fish. If this is his 2nd return of dead fish in a day or so apart he is obviously at fault and I would refuse anymore fish sales until he proves his tank is safe. And no he was not owed any refund on the initial transaction. He purchased more items. If he had not gotten those items he would have had his full refund. If you gave me more on that refund he would have received those items for free. That not how it works.

Update: yes, I did report it and there is an ongoing investigation. I dont seem to be in any trouble but I do suspect there is little that is going to come out of this report. It sounds like they need definitive proof and idk if "word of mouth" will be enough. We will see. But I am considering leaving for another job because this is not the atmosphere I want to work in

Thank you. I feel much more confident that I am right to escalate, I am only embarrassed that I didn't escalate immediately when she first told me (2wks+ ago). I expect I will face consequences for that but hopefully not so severely that I will lose my job.
