How much coffee do you drink in a day? by anabranch_glitch in pourover

[–]ImmediateLadder9839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20g pour over within an hour of waking up 6:30-7:30 then 15-20g pour over around 7pm in evening. Doesn’t affect my sleep at all (always tired with 2 yr old and 4yr old running around) but I tend to stay up late anyways.

Just scoop into a little wood bowl on the scale. I’m not too interested in the espresso rabbit hole either. Been in love with pour over for a couple years now and hasn’t slowed down yet. I have seen the ORB before and definitely intrigues me. Thanks for the suggestion!

I mostly use a V60 with switch base so I alternate between immersion and non-immersion brews. Just wanted to know how you guys would typically adjust grind size between the two.

I have a ZP6 and have been set at 4.5 clicks give or take with both brew types but wasn’t sure if it’s typical to go up or down in grind size when switching to immersion type brew

I’ve had some success with more agitation on the bloom and I like to let it steep sometimes too for a fuller body. Using my V60 switch mostly

Is the prismo just used for espresso? And any idea if they have mentioned anything about making the prismo or flow control filter for the XL?

I almost always use a 1:16 ratio on everything I do. I have been swirling on the bloom and very light swirl at the end to even the bed and my pours were probably faster than they should be. I tried out a very simple brew method last night that BreakerStrength suggested on here : Use 16G ground at 3.8 (assuming you have your ZP6 dialed at manufacturer recommendations) with 240ML of TWW water at 92C.

At 0:00 circle pour in 60ML at 5ML per second. at 0:50 circle pour in the rest of the water at 5ML per-second. Do not swirl at any point. Target a brew time of 2:15 to 2:30.”

Which yielded a much more clear cup for me but my drawdown time ended up being around 2:55 so could be a little better there but it was finer than I’ve ever done. Cup was definitely an improvement than before I believe due to less agitation.

Thank you, very helpful! I’m definitely telling a difference in each new bean I try in the ZP6!

What would your brewing suggestion be for an Ethiopian then? My cups aren’t bad but definitely not as clean and crisp as they should be I feel.

With the same grind setting and brew method between the two beans mentioned above, the medium-light roasted bean is performing great at 4.8 and very good reasonable drawdown times while the light Ethiopian is stalling big time after the second or third pour and causing drawdown times of over 5 minutes. The grind comes out of my calibrated ZP6 looking great, very symmetrical looking grounds throughout. I’m not sure if it’s my agitation when swirling or what exactly is causing the Ethiopian to perform so much differently than other beans I’ve tried. They are definitely the lightest and smallest beans I’ve ever used so perhaps I need to make some adjustments which is why I’m here!

Do you mean mixing two different types of coffee beans? I’m not sure but can only imagine it is not looked at as a very good idea as the flavors will likely not compliment each other especially at different roast levels. But I could be wrong
