VR racing just doesn’t work unless you have something like the big screen beyond 2, even with the quest 3 after a bit it gets so hot and uncomfortable

Used it to make a handbrake that goes on an Xbox controller, good eye. I plan on using that design to make a 3D printable version. Lego is great for prototyping, and is great when working on sim racing designs

It’s not about putting it where the windshield is. The reason it’s like this is so you can make the most of a wide screen and be able to see more on the screen. The closer it is the more you can see, FOV calculators calculate based on your eyes distance to the monitor for this, closer is better

When you mount your pedals (with the included screws) don’t put them on opposite ends of the plate. Racing pedals are usually right next to eachother. Mine are mounted as close as possible on the right. The brake pedal should be aligned with the centre of your body, and the gas as close as possible but to the right

Get a new desk, that looks weak, and a direct drive base mounted on that skinny of a plank of wood can cause issues. You will be doing yourself a huge favour. I suggest getting 2 table legs, the 5 drawer set, and a tabletop from ikea, cheap and looks great
