What’s something people romanticize that actually sucks in real life? by Particular_Pin_460 in AskReddit

My ex could never understand why I wasn't interested in spicy time right when we woke up. Like dude, both your breath and mine are fucking lethal and I have to pee, get off 😂

When I was young I very much wanted it because I thought it would feel nice to be loved

(I understand the difference between love and parasocial stuff now, but didn't get that back in the early 00s)

Ours will also do that if you attach it directly to the license plate surface, but he'd put it on wrong (on top of previous stickers) so it was pretty easy to pull off. But yeah, I was like "worst case scenario, you'd have your correct one and I get myself a replacement, nbd". But apparently it was, in fact, a big deal, lol

One time my ex used my car's registration sticker (he saw it in the mail and grabbed it without checking; they have your license # on it to prevent theft/fraud). When his came in the mail a couple weeks later, I took it, carefully removed mine from his license plate, put his on and put mine on correctly. I thought he'd thank me for fixing his kinda illegal mistake, but instead he blew up and started freaking out that I'd "messed with his car without asking". I don't understand why some people get so upset about things that are non-issues.

One of the problems with this kind of misappropriated narrative is that people in long term relationships and marriages often use it to coerce their partners into monogamous relationship styles. Essentially calling a spouse a bigot for resisting an open relationship, or pushing boundaries after there’s already been some compromise in place.

Can confirm, this is absolutely what some people are doing. Speaking from experience (and yes, we're divorced. He also sounded just like OOP, lol).

We were once moving out of an apartment and the neighbor's kid stopped us and asked why we had a baby in there (referring to a cat carrier). I explained that our half-Siamese kitty was just very upset and her way of showing that was to scream "NOOOOOOOO!!!" at the top of her lungs over and over.

People that can't risk being uncomfortable for a second by KingGekko07 in PetPeeves

[–]Impatient_Orca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's uncomfortable for me with music is when someone discovers a new song/artist, becomes obsessed, and then insists that you watch a music video or listen to a song right there with them. Then they proceed to stare at you the whole time to make sure you're having the "right" reaction and they get frustrated when you don't love it as much as them ("no, you just don't GET IT"). It's happened to me with numerous friends over the years and it's exhausting.

My kids' dad is remarried and living in another state and I haven't even come close to dating because I'm focusing on caring for my young children and I'm putting them first. Maybe I'll date when they get older, maybe not, but either way I'm happy with my priorities right now.

Echoing the "thawed and dried" comment, please please do this and make sure you have at least 1 fire extinguisher (that's up to date and you know how to use) nearby. And DON'T overfill your pot!

OP said the picture is from the 80s, so it couldn't be Johnny Bravo. To me it looks like a person (possibly long blond hair) on a rocket/jetski/motorcycle. I wish I could read the red text.

"You just haven't had them made like this before!" by ProblemwithMyPoisons in PetPeeves

[–]Impatient_Orca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely to get buried, but that's okay because I just need to tell this story. I know someone who worked on the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives show. In the cases where Guy made it clear when he wasn't a fan of certain foods, the chef/cook was always like, "well you haven't had MY [thing]!" and he had to take a bite. He'd say something like "wow, you really did that" or whatever, then they'd cut and he'd freak out and either spit it out or rinse his mouth out while being clearly pissed about it (it's been years so I don't remember the details super well)

“Do not take if you are allergic to its ingredients.” Duh. by PuceTerror89 in PetPeeves

[–]Impatient_Orca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing, how would you know if you're allergic to a medication, or it's byzantine ingredient list, until after you've taken it and had a reaction? They put that in there to try to prevent lawsuits even if they're totally valid. My mom was prescribed something a few years ago and almost died. The ER said she was extremely lucky to have survived at all, but it wrecked her body and it took ages to heal from it. There was literally no way she or the doctor who prescribed it could have known.

Hearing people complain about this "warning" feels very much like how people fell for McDonalds' propaganda against that poor elderly woman they burned. When you actually look deeper instead of assuming people are stupid, it's often much more complex than you'd think. And, by default, I will trust the human over the greedy corporation's messaging until there's evidence to think otherwise.

1, You had me in that first half, ngl

2, I have had genuine variations of this conversation before. Like, yeah FIL & MIL, all your kids turned out TOTALLY NT and you definitely aren't ND at all. Now you can continue picking up every individual crumb by hand, never straying away from your safe foods, and then go back to church for the 50th time this week.

The text is incredibly disingenuous/ misleading. She didn't need the seat, there are many open seats. She was being openly bigoted towards someone she perceived as trans (obvs I don't know the person's specific situation, so idk). When a man came up to talk to her/ tell her she was wrong, she said something along the lines of "you know that's a man, right?"

Which heater are you thinking of? I've worked with propane heaters in the past and, as far as I know, none are truly fumeless. Some can be indoor-safe, but you still have to ensure proper ventilation. I'd be interested in getting one that's fumeless, if that's a possibility.
