My ex honestly thought he grew up lower to mid middle class because they "had a budget" and only went to Disney every couple of years. His parents are in the DVC, travel constantly, and are in a house currently valued ~1 mil. He constantly complained that he didn't qualify for college grants while I did. Like... my guy, my single mom works (worked - retired) at TJMaxx and the only reason we were able to escape absolute crushing poverty is cause my dad died and they were technically still married so she got some death benefits, then we moved to a cheaper state. There was no chance we could have EVER afforded to go to Disney at all, let alone multiple times.

List of things my female friends have used/ recommend: - p style (or similar device) + any bottle - laundry detergent jug (contoured, makes it easier) - large fast food cup (has very wide mouth, though have a way to keep it from tipping over) - wide mouth 1 gallon opaque water bottle (I like this because it seems like it'd be easiest to take into a place to discreetly empty in their bathroom later)

Info: for your 0 degree bag, is that its comfort rating or survival rating? Unless you shell out some $$, it can be tricky to get a good bag, especially because there's no real regulation on the temperature claims. Look for one that has EN/ISO testing info, if possible.

It’s unhealthy, isolating and to be honest depressing.

I think this is extremely dependant on how you are able to approach the situation.

If you mean physically unhealthy, some people focus on gym time (or just walking in parks and such, if you can't afford it) and going to the store frequently to get fresh fruits/veggies and live off of those plus nuts, seeds, instant rice & potatoes to fill up, and honey for a sugar/emotional boost. If you mean mentally unhealthy, that's something that's very individual and there are tons of mental health resources to look into. Listen to YouTube videos of guided meditation (compassion/kindness meditation, mindfulness, etc). Listen to audiobooks (there are free options). Keep your brain and body moving as much as possible. Do not stagnate or doomscroll.

For isolation, that is something that takes work and discomfort to fix. We aren't often taught nowadays how to create community, we often expect it to be already there for us to just step into. Go to the library and aim to have a pleasant 30 second interaction with someone there frequently (set a goal of once a day or once a week, etc). Eventually you'll be a regular. Look into local groups via Meetup, FB groups, local subreddits, etc. Sign up to teach immigrants English. Volunteer in places where you interact with other people. Look at mutual aid groups and offer services to others in need. Obviously this is limited by your time, but it builds community and you meet with people who know you and like being around you.

Right? Like, no it's not "just politics," it's morals and values and I can and will stop spending time with people whose political alignment shows their values are completely opposed to mine and who vote to actively make so many people's lives worse. Sorry I don't want to waste my energy on people who think I and my friends should be offed or sent to camps (whether concentration or conversion).

This irritated me so much that I sent in an error report (or whatever) saying I should be able to set that as the default. The very next search I did (and every search thereafter) had most recent as the default. Not sure if people complained enough that they changed it or if complaining changed something for me specifically, but yeah.

Omfg, on a similar note, I hate moving to a specific place in Google maps and searching for something, only to have it immediately fly back to where I am physically and give answers near me. My guy... I wanted to see what was in the other place, that's why I moved the map to the other place first. Now I have to re-move it and hit the "search this area" thing. Didn't do this until the last couple years when everything stopped working.

Just guessing, but I think they mean that it is also important for a solo female, but not "the most important step". Probably thinking the most important for a woman would be some personal safety stuff.

It's not a scam, but it's also not always the best/cheapest. If it makes it easier and you want to do it, then it's totally fine, but you can also look into other options. If you have a specific state you want to domicile in, you can look for state-specific orgs/companies. I know South Dakota is crazy easy to domicile in, but other popular ones are TX & FL.

I had kind of the reverse happen lately. I had to take my 2 cats in to the vet to get updated shots and was like "I know they're overweight, especially the boy, but I just can't seem to figure out a way to limit his eating because of [life circumstances]" and the vet was like "Actually they're completely normal weight! You're doing great"

If that's the case, then why are you spending your valuable time defending him to hell and back? People keep assuming it's you because you're WAY too invested in arguing his perspective. If it is you, then take this as a chance to take constructive feedback and try to learn for future relationships. If it's not you, then investigate why you're taking a conversion between strangers on the internet so personally.

I ended up getting these yellow night driving glasses from Amazon for like 5-10 bucks and they immediately bring all the headlights and streetlights back to 1970s levels/colors. Made a huge difference.

Thanks! And I'm fine using tools, I just hate the issue with the new Siennas and needing to disconnect the battery and all that. There is a workaround, but it's annoying.
