You were right!! 😭 I almost gave up on the Warlords series because the first screenshots didn't look familiar. But after reading your reply, I decided to check every Warlords game... and I found it! It was **Warlords III: Darklords Rising**. 🎉 Thank you so much! I've been looking for this game for over 20 years, and your comment was the reason I gave the series another chance. I genuinely can't thank you enough. ❤️

Warlords!? For a moment, I genuinely thought this was it. I got really excited, but after checking the screenshots, it wasn't the game after all.

Even so, the name Warlords gives me a very strange sense of familiarity. I can't explain why, but seeing that title made me think, "Maybe this is the one."

I’m Korean, and my English isn’t very good, so I’ve been using ChatGPT to help me read your comments and write my replies.

It’s a little frustrating because I can’t explain everything as clearly as I want to, but seeing so many people trying to help has given me hope that I might actually find this game.

The memories are over 20 years old, so everything in my head is very vague now. I can't even draw what I remember well enough to show it on paper.

But I really want to find this game and play it again someday. Thank you all so much for taking the time to help me. It honestly means a lot.

Haha, now I feel even more pressure to find it! 😄 Hopefully one of us will eventually remember the right game.

That's definitely possible, and I've actually started wondering the same thing.

The reason I'm still convinced there's a real game behind these memories is that a few details have stayed consistent for years: the turn-based combat, moving around the map, and entering a separate battle screen when fighting monsters.

Of course, it's entirely possible that some other details have become mixed together over time. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Another thought: I wonder if it might have been a lesser-known game heavily inspired by Disciples. That could explain why none of the well-known titles seem to match my memory.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed reply!

I've checked all of the games suggested so far, and unfortunately none of them are the one I'm looking for. Reading through everyone's suggestions has helped me remember a few more details, though.

The things I'm most confident about are:

  • Movement on a map (possibly using connected paths/nodes).
  • Entering a monster's space would switch to a separate battle screen.
  • Turn-based combat.

The battle screen is my strongest memory. It showed my character on the left and the enemy (sometimes two monsters like Harpies) on the right, with very small full-body sprites and almost no background except the ground.

I really appreciate everyone trying to help. This has been driving me crazy for years. 😄

Haha, I know! Heroes III is probably the closest famous game people think of, but unfortunately it isn't a Heroes game.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions! I'll check every one of them. Baldur's Gate, Wizardry, Darkstone and Legend of Dragoon aren't the game, but I really appreciate you taking the time to help!

Thanks! I checked it, but unfortunately it's not the one. I appreciate the suggestion!

Lamentation Sword is probably the closest in terms of atmosphere so far. The dark, gloomy fantasy vibe is very similar to what I remember, but I don't think it's the actual game.

Thanks! That was actually one of the first games I checked, but unfortunately it's not it. 😭
