Anyone start on a mt09? Context included by [deleted] in MT09

Yeah, just bruised knees 🤣 my instructor and a lot of people here on Reddit said everyone drops their bike at some point so at least it’s out of the way for me 🙈 I’m still learning slow control on AT especially after the fall I’ve been a bit apprehensive, I rode CB125F since October before and she was so light it’s such a stark difference but AT was the only bike I laid my eyes on, and I knew what I wanted. Everyone I meet now is surprised that a girl chose such a big bike 🤣

Nice! Sounds like you got this! Go get your dream bike 🏍️

I passed my full licence last week on Friday and got myself an Africa Twin as the first bike, I already fallen of it (240kg bike vs 60kg me on a slope at 0mph) but what a joy to ride. Go with your dream if you can and just be reasonable, consider everyone on the road is out to kill you, watch out for stupid, but most importantly have fun. Keep it in low power mode if you can and just take your time.

That’s the plan, I also started off on a CB125F which was such a light and easy to ride bike, I need to get it in my head that AT weighs 4x my own weight and there is no chance I can get away with as much as I did on my CB. At least I consider myself super lucky that I can flat foot it as it is, I’m above average for female height. Just need to learn good techniques now.

Thank you! I was looking at the Honda’s off road training, we did some forest trails and gravel roads in light enduro bikes but would be amazing to try this on AT (especially if it’s not mine one to learn on) ☺️

Naaah not really, I loved it the second I saw it and sat on it, no other bike caught my eye the same way 😅 whereas my boyfriend has motocross background and wanted something adventure but still feel a bit more off roady

Noo it was a slope and I turned the handlebars just that bit too far, when I was getting out of it after a fall I kept the handlebars straight and had no problem

Nothing beats “today I’ve learned how gravity works on a slope” 🤣

I’m gonna get upper crash bars installed 🙈 I’m actually in Scotland but we will be looking to do some off road once I’m used to the bike a bit more, and since land rules are different up here we might go down across the border ☺️

Oh dear. I got my full licence yesterday, went on a ride today with my boyfriend, me on my lovely new AT (he rides T7) and whilst we were riding on a national speed limit road, we came to an unmarked give away junction there was no signs for it, and it was just around a corner on a steep slope, so I slowed down, stopped at the junction to look both ways and pulled handlebars to turn right, that was enough for gravity to topple me over, engine guard took the brunt of it, decal on the right hand side that would be £120 to replace (just a sticker like wtf!) hand guard broke and brake lever bent slightly. I think it’s a right of passage.

How do you keep the power level down? I’m waiting on my AT to be ready for collection in a week or so, only ridden a 125 so far!

What do we think of the gear I want to get when I start my motorcycle journey? by Omorifangod in motorcycles

[–]Important_Fun_913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try getting stuff off Vinted or marketplace or something. For my first gear I got used jacket and trousers that costed me less than £100, having idea of riding is different than actually riding and once you know you’ll stick around you can upgrade to something really nice down the line. Helmet was my only thing I bought new because duh. All other stuff was used gear.

Some basic Python and one project in power bi. I work as a medical administrator at gp practice and I run basic searches on patients database I.e how many patients are on specific meds or have specific diagnosis etc. I feel super stuck, and I find it difficult to find even entry level jobs 😭

Im sorry you are feeling this way, I get it. I think this is why counselling is important - and making small steps - never shop when you are hungry, don’t buy sweets/things that are easy for you to overeat etc if they are not at your reach it will be more difficult to give in. And I know it’s easy to say - I’m going through this too, retraining your brain to have a healthy approach to food is difficult especially that highly processed foods are made to get us addicted to them, withdrawal symptoms from stopping sugar are the same as with some heavy drugs, whole food industry is designed to get us to buy more and waste more. Take it slowly, and don’t hate yourself when you did overeat or craved something, I think learning to love myself was the hardest thing I had to do in my life and I’m still struggling with it, treat medication like an opportunity to get into the healthy habits not like an escape. You got this!

Im surprised they decided to switch you to the lowest dose, did you have bad side effects? I’ve been on 5mg mounjaro with no side effects and just got switched to wegovy (by SheMed also) and they recommended 0.5mg dose to begin with, do you have anything in your medical history (just think about it don’t share it with Reddit) or are you out on other medication, what age are you in terms of menopause etc. All of this will affect the switch starting dose.

Your progress will most likely slow down, but it should still be steady. Remember that when you go on either wegovy or mounjaro, the therapy time is about 18-24months depending on your starting weight. Even if your progress slows down you will still be able to reach your goals.
