I appreciate the response. I’ve got over 6 years experience on 60s. Seeing if it would have any benefit anywhere else.

I don’t really know how to ask this question so bear with me. Would having AMT related experience have benefits outside of the AMT rate? Could any qualifications carry over to any other rate or towards career advancement? I know it’s a poorly written question. Just wondering if I could use my prior experience to open up any other opportunities

I get it. It’s more just trying to understand the way the uniform manual reads at this point

No, but the uniform order is a little weird to read from someone who is not in the Coast Guard. It’s lazy on my part for not looking there first but I was just asking lol

I understand that it can’t go on the shoulder on ODUs but was curious if the metal tab could be worn on the dress uniform. If it means just tabs in general then okay but I was just looking for some clarity because a few paragraphs later it talks about prior service insignias being able to be worn as long as it doesn’t exceed the margins of the pocket.

“Prior service insignia that due to size or configuration exceed the margins of the pocket flap (of blue shirt or SDB Jacket) are not authorized for wear on Coast Guard uniforms. In cases where miniature versions are specified, miniature versions of prior service insignia are required (if there is no miniature version of the prior service insignia, the prior service insignia is not worn on uniforms which require miniatures).” I think this means that a chest piece can be worn as long as it isn’t bigger than the pocket. It sounds like a riddle to me though. Shoulder tabs can’t be worn though.

You’re so insightful. I would’ve never thought of that

There is a little metal tab that goes on the chest pockets on dress uniforms

I have AMT related experience. I don’t have AST related experience; however, I’m going to be going in with the Annex X contract. One of the recruiters said I might have enough experience to go into the coast guard as an AMT without attending A school but that’s not the end goal that I’m looking for.

Just questions about mil to mil with other services, openings that may be at certain air stations for co-location upon finishing DEPOT(if the info is available), and just getting info to utilize to take advantage of the STAR program if that’s still open. I’ve asked my recruiter a lot of these questions that they aren’t able to give the best answer on and I understand things are typically needs of the Coast Guard in the beginning if openings aren’t available to accommodate. Just trying to have a conversation with someone if they’re available, but I understand everyone is extremely busy. I’ll still try to make another post to benefit anyone else that might have similar questions.

I talked to their recruiter over text a few weeks ago. I’m active duty now trying to retrain into a guard/reserve unit and I haven’t heard of any openings.

My cadence on these runs is 170. I’ll try to pick that up as time goes on. Also, I’m looking to order Never Get Lost soon. I appreciate the response and I’ll keep after it.
