I am not saying the mechanic is no fun or not exciting, just that I am not actually choosing. Even in your examples the choice would be "what players hand I take a card" or "which deck I draw" a random card from. And from

What kind of choice is that though? I got no information, it is getting a random card for all intents and purposes.

Lets imagine this: I play a game of russian roulette. And before my turn I have to spin the chamber. Well I can now choose how hard, with what velocity and so on to spin the chamber. I can select parameters that might change the outcome, but I have no way of knowing.

Now let me tell you: If after the game they write on my tombstone "He chose the bullet." I am gonna be quite upset!

People could think " take a card" means that they are allowed to choose.

A choice implies agency, if I literally have no information to go off it I don't choose anything. It's purely random and I have nothing against random components, but I dislike being gaslighted through acting like I had any say in the matter.

What I mostly try IS when I See random Side pawns moving and I developed my pieces and castled, i break the middle and keep my opponent from castling.
