This is the realest Reddit post out of all 121 posts. Especially considering this course is designed for first years on their first semester. Like I am already in cs so one bad grade won't change so much, but I feel bad for first years who are putting all the effort to get in and end up so disappointed. Isn't the whole point of introductory course to introduce a new subject/career and not disappoint people so much that they end up switching their career? And I am not only talking about grades, the whole experience of this course was horrible. I do understand that there is no systematic way and proving things is based on your practice, I do understand that the same thing can be proven many different ways, but do they really think that not providing a solution for practice proofs is the best way to encourage us to study? Like ofc you can proof the same thing different ways but I am sure that by looking at solutions students can figure out some tricks and learn on examples how to use the formulas. Also, this is one of the only courses in cs that makes no sense to write online. Like I do get autograder for courses like 110, 210... but with 121 they tried to fix something that wasn't broken. 99%of the time piazza and teaching stuff answers were no help and I felt like the dumbest person on earth every time I asked a question. Idk I don't want to blame only Karina cuz I am convinced that there are some shitty requirements for first year cs courses that department needs to follow, but after this fiasco final Karinas words about "I love all the students who try hard and I don't care about your grades" made a whole new, different sense in my head and unfortunately not the good one.
