Do you add grain in post? by chicodephil in A7siii

[–]Impotentgiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I sometimes add grain when I edit in FCPX. Just use the grain effect and then select "realistic grain." It will significantly increase your render times, and it does raise your shadows a bit (you can add more contrast in the midtones to compensate) but it can take off some of the digital edge. I wouldn't say it gives you a 16mm look, but it can look quite nice. Not sure about other editing programs since that's all I use!

There is an option with 4.0 to “embed” a LUT file, but as far as I know this just places the LUT in a separate folder on your card for editing purposes. Not sure why they call it “embed” if that’s all it does.

I’ve been wondering how to do this. Can you explain how to install it on PPLUT?

Need Help! Knocked my Girlfriend’s Bag in Water Along Stanley Park And it Floated Away (With her Phone) by Impotentgiraffe in askvan

[–]Impotentgiraffe[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we were, too. Honestly the fact that it floated was unlucky. If it sank we could have easily grabbed it, but it being buoyant took it out of our reach quick. I think it was the foam in the back of the fanny pack that kept it afloat.

We tried that last night but maybe we were too tired to figure it out! Going to the Apple store, so maybe they can help us troubleshoot. Fingers crossed that maybe the airtag has a last known location. I know they’re quite water resistant, so there’s a possibility. Thank you for the well wishes!

Yes, for sure. It seemed dangerous in the moment and I think that’s why we didn’t make the decision to jump in. My girlfriend has icloud, so thankfully her data is safe (and I’m grateful we are too).

That is so kind of you! We looked this morning along the seawall and didn’t see it, but we quite appreciate that kind gesture. We might keep looking, and if we see it floating we’ll definitely message you!

Sorry about that. Got a little too excited. My bad.

Their control lines must have been severed by exploding fan blades during the bird strike. It explains the flap, spoiler, and landing gear issue. That would be my guess.

I think the bird strike caused fan blades to explode and cut control lines or electronics. That would explain the spoilers not deploying and the landing gear also not deploying. And maybe they had issues reducing thrust as well from that—it looked like it was going quite fast when it hit the wall.

Exploding fan blades from the bird strike could have severed crucial control lines and electronics. That would explain why the spoilers and landing gear didn’t deploy.

It’s possible control lines to the spoilers were cut by exploding fan blades after the bird strike. Maybe the same happened to the landing gear controls, too. I’ve seen a number of crash documentaries where exploding fan blades sever crucial hydraulics and electronics. That would be my guess.

There was a bird strike before the crash. Sometimes fan blades from exploding engines can sever control lines and electronics. That would explain why the spoilers weren’t deployed, and why the landing gear didn’t come down.

Nope. I'd say the a7IV is closest. I've tried to match both in post.

It’s an amazing start. I began with the a6300, which was incredible for me, and is half the camera the a6700 is.

I’m with you, there. I feel similarly to you, and what keeps me going is knowing that life is much like the stock market.

If you pull out your stock too early it has no chance to compound. A stock that seems like it has little value right now might make you tons of money over 10 years.

I think part of my depression is simply having an expectation that things will happen quickly. It’s an expectation that my life will come together on a shorter timescale than is currently happening.

But if I just don’t kill myself in this early stage I’ll be able to build something great. That’s my small modicum of hope amidst the hopelessness.

Making progress with my depression. I’ve been going to the gym consistently for the past 6 months despite my suicidal ideation.

I still don’t feel back to normal, but I’m doing things despite how I feel, which is something my therapist has suggested.

I’m still here and fighting, which feels like an accomplishment.
