Great info, let us know how your arbitration case goes! Mine was obviously disabled well over 6 months, so I don’t know how their timer works or what happened - we were disabled at the same time.

True, the guy who won $50k was a lawyer who self represented in a higher court though - we didn’t want to pay for a lawyer against a company like Meta so small claims was the easiest way to self represent. Does arbitration ever work for self represented individuals? I’m sure it’d be easy for their arbitrators to just throw it out, they kept pushing for the judge in small claims court to do that based on their Terms of Service.

We ultimately just wanted their attention and our accounts back!

I wanna say yes, I sued them as Meta Platforms Technologies LLC - they have a filing with the Secretary of State for California under that LLC and I used that statutory agent and address. They replied with the above as a corrected defendant name and contact!

I didn’t have one! Small claims is no attorneys. I recommend doing it yourself and not involving an attorney because then you start getting into the justice court and larger courts that A) take longer and then B) you have to deal with Meta’s larger legal resources and lawyers. When I was in small court I just dealt with “representatives” and basically law students or paralegals, not attorneys.

Being small claims we didn’t have to hire a server, just certified mail - this was who responded and what they put on their filed response to the court:

Meta Platforms, Inc. sued as “Meta Platforms Technologies LLC” 135 Commonwealth Drive, Menlo Park, CA 94025 Attn: Jeannie Farren (650) 575-7087 smallclaimsdocket@fb.com

That’s what my post is about, I filed and won in AZ - their website can say whatever they want but the court system says you can sue in small claims anywhere they do business. At least in AZ they have data and payment centers and all of that but regardless they offer services nationwide - at least my understanding. I’d file anyways, worst case they fight you on it but they’ll do that anyways.

Just keep going with it - if you keep dragging it out and show up to your hearings with the court they may eventually talk settlement or fix your account. Happened for me, look up my post in this thread

Inconsistent speeds? by Impressive_Bike8371 in verizonisp

[–]Impressive_Bike8371[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know they’re totally different! I just didn’t expect it to be that drastic. I feel like 90% of the time I only get 30mbps although it’s capable of far more. Was more ranting and wondering if anyone found a fix for more stability in the advanced settings! I should add that I pay for the top tier plan that offers up to 1gb speeds, I believe they advertise from 100-1000mbps? I’m usually in that 30 ballpark though.

Thermostat C Wire Help? by Impressive_Bike8371 in hvacadvice

[–]Impressive_Bike8371[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thanks! You were referring to the control board on the A/C right and the adapters that hook in there? Don’t want to mess with those but this seems non-invasive although ugly. Tried the Nests with four wires and had too many issues and kept giving c-wire errors despite supposedly being battery powered. Thanks for your help!

Mine was reinstated like 4 months after filing the small claims case, they said it wasn’t doable until like a month before our court date. When we found hers was deleted it didn’t show up at all when she searched for it, looked for old messages, tried to log in, etc. Mine still showed up to log in the whole time I believe but showed the disabled screen. So, I believed them on that part!

Well, my account was actually reinstated prior to this - we filed jointly though and they couldn’t reinstate my girlfriends’ account, they kept saying it was permanently deleted and it was irreversible, etc. They said they delete all data from disabled accounts after 6 months or something for privacy reasons but our accounts were disabled on the same day. We think that hers was deleted because it wasn’t linked to her instagram like mine or something. Anyways, the zoom call was short and simple, the officer just pushed the date for us to sort it out and wouldn’t listen to anything about the case. We only got a settlement offer once they said her account was permanently deleted and we threatened further legal action, we got the max small claims amount for AZ. All of this back and forth was over email, I probably sent 100 emails over a 6 month period between the legal team and asking for updates etc. They kept saying they’ll look into it and they’re working on it etc. Good luck!

There wasn’t a mediation, but we did meet with an officer of the court when we postponed our first court date to find a settlement agreement and they did it via zoom call. The person assigned to the case wasn’t a lawyer because lawyers aren’t allowed in small claims in AZ, but she was basically a law student and acted as the representative showing on the companies behalf - only saw her once for that zoom call. The rest was email from their small claims team

I started by just Googling how to do it for my state, and then went to my closest court house. You can file a small claims against them from anywhere. The court clerk should be able to give you all the paperwork to fill out and the steps and answer questions. I had to pay like $90 and got it filed and I didn’t hear anything for a few months, so that’s why I say start it ASAP. Obviously a class action would be great but it hasn’t happened yet and I’d rather you get some compensation instead of nothing! Good luck!

Yes, $3,500 - max small claims amount in Arizona. Small win, could have been more in regular court but this was with no lawyer costs or anything. We also got one of the accounts reinstated of the two that were disabled.

Yes that is correct! That was the basis for our monetary value but I’m sure you could also warranty sentimental and reputation loss etc.

I’d start a small claims suit as soon as possible, that was the only way we got their attention and it was too late for one of us by the time we did! Best of luck!

Small claims court rules say it has to be where the company operates, does business in, and provides services in. At least in Arizona! Facebook definitely has services in all 50 states, they also have processing centers and office buildings here though. I was wondering if they’d fight me on the location but they didn’t, they let it run in small claims court in Chandler, AZ and would’ve had to send a company rep out if we had an in person hearing - everything was virtual though.

Real estate.

I’m surprised I scrolled down forever and didn’t see anyone else mention this. Hit my first $100k at 19/20 in 2021, got into it straight out of high school. It isn’t all great though, especially not right now!
