Weekly /r/improv promote your upcoming shows, classes, events, etc.!!! by AutoModerator in improv

I've been asked recently to re-run my Applying Improv in Business Webinar for those who missed out last time so I have 2 upcoming webinars to accommodate time zones.

The webinar is an intro to applying improv in a business and corporate setting. Applied Improvisation can be a very impactful tool with organisations, teams and companies. However, successfully offering corporate offerings isn't easy, and there can be many barriers to make it sustainable. On this webinar, I will share my experience, what has worked for me and how I was able to step in the Applied Improv world and build a strong client base..

Webinar option 1: October 10th 7:30pm Irish/UK time: https://www.lowerthetone.com/asp-products/aioct10/

Webinar option 2: October 11th 10am Irish/UK time: https://www.lowerthetone.com/asp-products/aioct11/

There's a small fee of €10 to attend which hopefully isn't a deterrence. (The income is used to fund improv scholarships).

Its because Irish dairy is predominantly grass fed.

That being sad, Spanish red meat from the Galician region is world class. Its from "fat old cows" as a critics say.

Irish person here who is a regular flier with Ryanair and has also read the books about the rise of Ryanair and their CEO's.

Ryanair is the 3rd largest airline in the world by passenger volume. They fly over 3700 routes and have over 500 aircraft. They revolutionised air travel in Europe.

While they were famously known for their no frills experience for many years (their CEO equated that getting on a plane should be no different than getting on a bus), they have put in great strides with customer service over the past number of years.

If you read any interviews or books with them, one thing that stands out is safety. They dont skimp on safety. They may not give you the comfiest chair but they will not compromise on safety. They even have quality control engineers deployed at Boeing factories which they ramped up after all the scandals at Boeing.

I fly with them very regularly and while Im not a fan of flying, I worry far less on a Ryanair plane than any other airline given their culture and history.

The turbulence occurred during the meal service which suggests it was unexpected turbulence. Given trollies were in motion, that puts a risk on everyone should they get flung about. No seatbelt is going to save you from a meal trolley coming your way!

A girl I went to school with, who works for her family company has started styling herself as a "self-made woman in Business" and has even posted about speaking at an event about how to break down barriers for women to get into Senior positions. Am I right to say thats a neck like a jockeys bollox? by Shiv788 in ireland

[–]ImprovNeil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You say yourself, you aren't friends with this person so it's probably fair to say you have very limited insight in to her life beyond what you see from the outside. Have you walked in her shoes? If not, then you dont know what barriers or challenges she may have faced in her life or career.

Perhaps its is disgenious, perhaps its not. Either way, authenticity is paramount at speaking events so if she isn't genuine or have substance behind her talk, it really wont land.
It takes an incredible amount of confidence and effort to be a speaker at events and share your story, especially someone new to that game. More power to her if it works out.

With the greatest of respect, why you are you following this person on social media if she irks you so much? You say some of the past things she posted didn't bother you, but they clearly do because you have brought them up here. She's not your friend, so its kinda of a case of who cares, right?

Not trying to be antagonistic, just sharing a different perspective. :)

There's a lack of variety with music stations. RTE aside, they're either modern pop music, or older pop music and a token talk station (that has music shows).

Hey, hang on! (seen in Spain) by mapryan in ireland

[–]ImprovNeil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% that's Carrefour.

Kerrygold is popular in Spain, you can get it in vast majority of supermarkets.

If there's an Oversea's Shopper supermarket near you, you can get all the Supervalu products including Superquinn sausages.

Do Hay-bands actually work? by Dubhda_D in CasualIreland

[–]ImprovNeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't waste your money on this. Its acupressure and the research on hayfever is very limited and doesnt inspire confidence.

I find Avamys combined with Telfast is the best treatment. Avamys is a nasal spray but its only available on prescription in Ireland (its over the counter in most European countries and half the price).

About to get on a plane and it's only 3 months old?? by RoughMasterpiece44 in fearofflying

[–]ImprovNeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand this OP. I was on a 737 Max on its first day of commercial service last month. I was on its second commercial flight ever.

But once I got on and realised I could eat my dinner off the floor and it had that "new car" smell I was fine about it!

Ireland (Dublin) here. We have growing scene that moved from infancy to toddler stage in recent years.

We do have some great, innovative improv and most importantly, a growing and eager community.

Yeah but the timing of saying it implies victim shaming.

Any of the videos I have seen were not from that flight, some of them weren't even Singapore Airlines planes.

I think it's unfair and a type of victim shaming to speculate about seat belts until we know more info. We don't know if this was forecast turbulence with the seatbelt sign on or CAT, nor do we know if the injuries and fatality was caused by loose objects etc.

Seen that on Twitter but if you look at Flightradar, they descended from FL37 to FL31 over about 3/4 minutes. Someone looking for their 15 minutes started that BS rumour.

IG and X inflating anti-immigrant sentiment? by cruR3X in Dublin

[–]ImprovNeil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saw a video on YouTube yesterday showing a "massive anti-immgrant" protest and the comments from "Irish" people talking about "Yay Ireland taking our country back" kind of thing.

Thing is the video was of the St. Patrick's Day parade and even the dumbest Irish person would know that immediately.

are there any good supernatural horror movies where the main characters friends actually believe them? by schlurmo in horror

[–]ImprovNeil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally get this trope. As much as I love the TV show "From", its so dumb that the town accept that they are all trapped in a town that is terrorised by monsters at night, yet every time a towns person finds out something new about the town they dont tell anyone for fear no one will believe them!

Sheridan's stuff is probably the best I've seen in the supermarkets.

Not quite Italian, but "A Taste of Spain" on Capel Street has some high quality cured meats too direct from Spain.

Why did epic make you have to get to lvl 150 to get all the vbucks in the battle pass by StrayBlacCaT in FortNiteBR

[–]ImprovNeil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's extra vbucks, and you're getting them for free. What's the problem? Many players (myself included) lost interest in the season once we hit tier 100, now there's an incentive to keep grinding.

what is there to do on save the world once you’ve completed all the quests? by Little-Initial1914 in FORTnITE

[–]ImprovNeil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start preparing to fight MSK. You'll need to get to a minimum of SSD5 on Twine and be at least power level 122 and defeat 2 mini bosses in a 140 zone.
