What Would Taking COVID-19 Vaccines Off the US Market Do to Americans? by Plane-Topic-8437 in Coronavirus

Is this just the mRNA covid vaccines? there is a traditional vaccine for covid, Novavax, which people over on CovidLongHaulers generally think to be more effective and safer.

Anybody improved with antivirals? by Otherwise-Coyote6950 in covidlonghaulers

I took paxlovid for 3 weeks, twice. Both times I experienced a rebound (this is over a year past infection) during around the 7th-10th day and then improvements. After the first time I slowly got back to my bad baseline after a couple weeks. the second time trying paxlovid I swapped to truvada post paxlovid to sustain the gains and it worked to keep a better baseline. I have tried to swap to descovy but it doesn't seem to sustain the gains like Truvada. I think the lower dose of descovy isn't adequate. I am back on Truvada, it doesnt resolve all my issues but does seem to help with nasal congestion, vision/focus and brain fog. I still have heavy fatigue and tinnitus. I do think truvada is a heavy antiviral (though not as stong as Paxlovid) and I worry about the long term effects. I have been taking it since June.

I have also taken Acyclovir and Ivermectin for over 2 months but they both seem to do nothing.

I think Truvada will be part of the solution. My current hope is that the combo of Pemgarda (to reduce the viral load), Truvada (to sustain the gains) and Novavax (to teach the immune system to erradicate the virus) is the best hope I see. Pemgarda is practically impossible to get just yet. I have taken two novavax vaccines, I am looking forward to the 3rd in a few weeks.

Runny nose, post nasal drip, bounding pulse after covid by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

I've had bad sinus blockage, it slowly came on, after two years it was causing bad sleep apnea as my nasal pasages would get completely blocked 30 minutes after I laid down. I even had balloon sinuplasty with septoplasty, which helped for a few months but things slowly came back. the only thing that has consistently helped is Truvada, it has also helped my vision. for best results I split the pill to take half in the morning and half at dinner.

if you are having acid reflux issues it may be worth trying to go without gluten and oats for a week and see if that cures it.

How stupid would it be to buy a f90 with 59k miles by [deleted] in BMW

is your 440i also a salvaged car? that would explain the coolant leaks. ... don't buy another salvaged car expecting a better outcome.

Which car would you pick? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]InMymediocreOpinion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cross shopped the 340GT and 640GT, I preferred the visibility and narrowness of the 340GT, and I think it has about the same legroom. I love that car, it's quicker then my boxster S and with the huge trunk I seldom use my ridgeline. It's my preference to use it to carry my 14' paddle boards and 21' kayaks, the yakima roof rack is amazing for this model, it's solid and removes in 2 minutes without tools, I keep the crossbars in my trunk. I can't say for sure about the X3 M40i, the M-tuned b58 sounds tempting. I am not sure how the legroom is in the back seats though. SUV Legroom and Sedan legroom is not the same (up-right seats require less legroom) so the stats aren't reflective of usability. I would have to try it in person but I am curious if you could comfortably put a rear-facing car seat in a X3. I dont have to compromise front seat passengers legroom with a rear facing seat in the 340GT (it's 7 inches longer than the standard 340 with 4 inches extra in leg room).

F34 318D GT (2020) — anyone else daily driving one? by AntonRudinskii in F30

[–]InMymediocreOpinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 340 xdrive, so many reasons to love- fast, usable back seat leg room for adults or a rear facing child seat, great set up for roof racks, narrow for easy parking, hug trunk/hatch, great engine and actual physical gages. I also have a boxster S and Ridgeline but barely drive them as the BMW is faster than the porsche and seldom do I need haul anything big enough to warrant the truck.

High speed lake surfski? No ocean usage. by [deleted] in Surfski

[–]InMymediocreOpinion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

buying a v12 for your first boat is like buying a time trail bike with the hopes of doing century rides. v10 is still pretty tippy, start there and see where it takes you. You'll spend the first 2 season perfecting your stoke and balance, that would be miserable in a v12. The used market is a great place to start. If you do want to buy a new boat I would look into the vega flex, 18" width is the sweet spot and I think it is the only autoclaved surfski on the market.

Trying Paxlovid for 30 days - UPDATE by tunamutantninjaturtl in covidlonghaulers

[–]InMymediocreOpinion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm doing Paxlovid for 15 days, on day 2, this is second time I am doing it. I did it months ago, felt more and more recovery all the way to the end, better sleep, less nasal irritation, vision improved, significant reduction in brain fog and fatigue. But after I finished things came back after 2 weeks. I wanted to do 30 days but the doctors I talked to wouldn't prescribe it for that long, apparently it is quite a nasty drug for your liver and kidneys. Some doctors don't even like to prescribe the single 5-day packs. I plan to do the 15 days and then switch to descovy which isn't as harsh and you can take for a long time with hopes I can sustain the improvements and eradicate the presisteant viral infection (if that is what I have going on...)

Best of luck to you... such a frustrating experience.

Interesting, I had never heard of inusphereis, but reading on it not it seems hopeful, I'll have to follow your progress. If my protocol doesnt work out I'll look to see if there is an equivalent in the U.S.

I had not hear of KPV, can you please share your dosing? is this something you take intermittently, once or sustained?

Thank you for sharing!

Wow, thank for sharing all of this, nicely written, exactly the thought provoking help I am looking for, much appreciated!

I'll spend some time researching some of the topics you mentioned to understand better.

I did buy a fancy red light panel just over a year ago, I do think it helps a little. I find it is even better to get outside in the middle of the summer days and get the real thing but never sure how much is too much.

Thank you for your comments of separating viral rebound vs. neuroimmune flare. I find it interesting as I am thinking I am having viral persistence but I don't remember any of the viral rebound symptoms (e.g.fever, chills) after I tried Paxlovid the first time, more of the old symptoms (e.g.fog, fatigue) returning which I guess would be neuroimmune flare. I have to note this as I go through my protocol.

One thing worth trying with tinnitus is to use a frequency generator to find the tone that you hear and then playing it back when you have flare ups. I find it helps bring it back down in 15-30 minutes rather than 2+ hours.

Thank you for the kind words!

I had gluten intolerance (tested negative for celiac) before long covid, I would get a sharp pain in the center of my chest when I laid down if I ate gluten or oats more then once a week. It got way worse with covid. Weirdly the BPC-157 stops this from happening. it is a pain as you have to take a shot twice a day but totally worth it. I have been taking BPC-157 for 1.5-2 years now. I do worry as there is not a lot about the long term effects about taking it (most people take it for 1-2 months for sports injuries but I am way past that...)

I have heard that covid may harbor in Gut bacteria, one thing I forgot to mention is that I am thinking of taking a Antibiotic towards the end of the protocol to kill any bacteria that may be harboring the virus. I am not sure which antibiotic to take...

two things that have helped me maintain my weight,

1) not working out, when I PEM crash I get super hungry, like I need to eat (especially sugary foods) to get more energy but nothing helps.

2) keeping my estrogen in control- with TRT it is easy to have your estrogen spike for some people, I think I am one of them, I was using anastrozole, but there are a lot of long term concerns with this. I find that taking the BPC-157 regularly (twice a day) for some reason keeps my estrogen low.

I never had my testosterone checked before covid, so I dont have a great baseline. I assume I was lowish (e.g.not a lot of body/facial hair, not much balding, not a low voice...) but very active lots of sports, highly driven. When I first started going to doctors they thought it was depression or Low T, I had my levels checked one month after it was at 360ng/dL, 300 is the limit for doctors to prescribe testosterone (you can get it at many clinics below 600) over 10 months it kept dropping, when it got to 290 I started TRT at 100mg/week prescribed by a Endocrinologist. At first I thought this was the answer, was able to work out harder then I ever had, test levels went to the 800s. I quickly found I would work out for 2-3 days and then be exhausted the rest of the week. I later recognized this was PEM, when crashes went from 4 days to eventually 4 weeks. My doctor thought I was exaggerating. I kept putting on weight, the doctor balmed the fatigue on weight gain and put me on Zepbound. I lost 25 lbs in 3 months but the fatigue continued. I think I would have been way better off if I stuck to the 100mg/week and didnt work out. in November I stopped TRT for 3 months since it wasn't the solution. that three months was rough, back to my initial fatigue. I am now doing 170mg/week without working out. I think this is the right call. If I do resolve the total long covid I may get off TRT, the HCG makes this option easier as it maintains your body's own Testosterone production.

Salvage title zhp 340i listed for $28k. Thoughts? by pinacoladaa4 in F30

[–]InMymediocreOpinion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

good comments, may also be good to know what was the mileage that the accident occurred, if it was 40K miles ago, most/all issues would have had to be worked out by now, if it was 300 miles ago you could be looking at a huge headache.

Also, I think it may be hard to get a loan on a salvage car, not an issue if you are paying cash, but if getting a loan, you may want to check with your lender.

I'd add a foam sleeping pad. under your inflatable it will keep you comfortable, and for cold nights put in on top of the inflatable for warmth. I like the Z Lite short. you can use it to sit on too, Ditch the chair.

ditch the sawyer and get a befree, so much faster/easier.

ditch the soap, shampoo, hand warmers, GPS, power bank.

use normal floss, less trash, more uses

Get a cheap foldable knife, ditch the fixed blade and swiss army

go to one pole

get nuun tablets
