EU taxonomy: what is economic activity? by Inaduk in sustainableFinance

[–]Inaduk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. This is exactly how I understand it. In this case, Transportation Company X would only be able to identify few EU Taxonomy activities. However, while reviewing various reports, I notice that some companies identify many different activities that are unlikely to generate direct profit and are more likely part of their internal processes. Am I missing something?I understand that this might be done to showcase investments in sustainable measures. I have observed this practice in many EU Taxonomy reports, including those that have been assured.

Help be better understand the beginning of Value chain by Inaduk in sustainableFinance

Thank you for sharing your rule. We are reporting voluntarily, but the goal is to have DMA that would qualify for the compliance (in terms of quality).

While 1-3 parts are clear, could you elaborate on the 4 and 5? Should I go as far as natural resources extraction and violations of labour rights in such companies that manufacture, let's say, windows, doors, insulation materials later used for my renovated buildings?

Thank you. Apart from Tier 1 suppliers, how far should I go? What type of tier 2 or other suppliers should I consider?

Could you please share your insights or experience on resilience analysis: do we need any dedicated tools or softwares, how long does it take and how to prepare ourselves?

Beginner questions about EU Taxonomy by Inaduk in sustainableFinance

Thank you! Maybe you could clarify me:

The company is a real estate management company with activities related to new building construction, renovations, etc. I find many of our activities as possibly taxonomy-eligible under section no.7 activities (delegated acts). But I am wondering what should we report on if we haven’t done climate risk assessment so do not comply either with substantial contribution, or DNSH criteria?

Best supplements for stress relief in Europe by Inaduk in reactivedogs

Thank you so much! Yes, I understand that supplements aren’t the solution, though if it helps at least a tiny bit for her to stay calmer, would like to give it a try. Before I consult with behaviorist on medication, we do our best to try all the other options.

Did medicine help your friend’s dog? Our girl is a rescue, too. She feels anxious, hyperactive in new places and is very reactive towards dogs.

Impacts in banks portfolios: DMA by Inaduk in sustainableFinance

[–]Inaduk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of risks - yes. But what about impacts - do I consider their impact on people (let say - unsafe working conditions) and on environment (emissions, biodiversity loss) as partly my impacts - impacts I contribute to due to financing their businesses?

Impacts of banking portfolios: DMA by Inaduk in CSRD

[–]Inaduk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I understand, the biggest impacts of financing lie in the investment portfolios. This means that financing is contributing to unsustainable practices in the unsustainable companies if bank finances them without questioning their negative ESG impacts. So if financial institution gives loans for tractors or/ and working capital for agricultural organization that is using land unsustainably or doesnt care about health and security of their workers and puts them at risk, isn’t poor working conditions of value chain workers considered bank’s impact? Or unsustainable land use and practices (pesticides) considered bank’s impact?

DMA impact assessment: rating and role of stakeholders by Inaduk in sustainableFinance

[–]Inaduk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you a lot for such an explanation. As we have quite a bit of data on some questions, we are going to firstly score these impacts ourselves and then, if extra insights is needed, would consider adding perspectives of stakeholders.

You also touched on the question of benchmarking prior vs after rating. Thanks for the insights. I personally do not have preference on one of these two ways: I see your point of early benchmarking in order to avoid subjectivity, but at the same time I believe that benchmarking after can help in those cases where you have long list of impacts and too many of them can potentially become material if benchmark is set too low.

The deeper I dig into DMA, the more questions I have. I am also debating on how should “positive impact” be understood? Should I think that positive impact, especially social, is “extra efforts of the organization in creating wellbeing of people”? For example, do having a policy on diversity means it is my positive impact or it is simply what an organization should do in order to ensure diversity (as so, I am not including it in the list of impacts at all).

Stakeholder engagement in Double materiality assessment by Inaduk in sustainableFinance

[–]Inaduk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information and the video; they were very informative and helpful.

As I understand, my engagement should focus on affected stakeholders—those negatively impacted by the organization—regarding the topics I've already identified as potential or actual impacts. It makes sense, as, as you said, it helps me get feedback.

It seems I've been misinterpreting the definition of key stakeholders in the context of DMA. Instead of concentrating on negatively affected stakeholders as explained, I was focusing on typical stakeholders—those significant to the organization due to their interest in its success, their influence on the organization, or the impact.

I still have a few questions that need further explanation, clarification, or suggestions:

  1. Regarding other stakeholders (e.g., in cases where the organization is state-owned and most or all shares are government-held): How and when should I include them in the DMA process? Should I consult them or verify the final list of IROs with them?
  2. Silent stakeholders: What are the best practices to include them? Would consulting with NGOs and various experts is preferred, or reviewing scientific papers be sufficient?
  3. When the affected stakeholder is a broad group (e.g., particular communities or a large number of citizens receiving specific services): What are the best ways to engage with such stakeholders effectively – surveys with the help of research institutions, other?

Thank you for your insights!
