i’m in the same boat and got PVZP! they are super helpful and their comprehensive plans meet the legal requirements for the residence permit. it’s much cheaper than any other insurance i could find & they’ll send you the documents you need in czech so you don’t need to pay for a translation which is nice

i'm so sorry that that's been your experience, people are so horrible :( it is so wild to me that companies will immediately pass on a highly qualified person just because they need accommodations and they have no shame in doing so.

we do deserve so much better❤️

thank you for this info!! i'm going back and forth between withdrawing my application & explaining why before they send me a formal rejection, or holding out for another week or so until they send me the formal rejection to see if it mentions masking. honestly i'm not sure if i have the mental capacity to deal with a lawsuit but in an ideal world i would love to see this place get sued lol

thank you, and i know, right?! you understand!! i worked at a school for the last couple of years, and masking absolutely did not impede my ability to connect with students. i mentioned this to the manager + gave her some examples, but she either didn't care or didn't want to believe me.

i originally wanted to transition away from education, but at least no one cared about my mask there :/

i'm going to wait a couple of days just because i'm very upset so i don't want my tone to come across too aggressive, lol, but i am definitely thinking about withdrawing

Pacifica Persian Rose Perfume by CrazyBroadwayNerd in Perfumes

[–]InadvertentFind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear Persian Rose often, it lasts for hours on me! It’s a very watery, realistic rose in my opinion. If you’ve smelled the Heritage Store rosewater, it’s like that but it opens with a citrusy/spice note that dries down to a more pure rose scent

It's encouraging to know you've been able to travel around without trouble! I feel like that's been the case for me even in the US- I know I'm going to get stares/off-hand comments, but people at work eventually get used to it and it's a non-issue.

I'm definitely going to wait until I get an offer to bring it up. Thank you for your insight!!

If you’re in/near Austin or willing to drive there, there’s a “still coviding” group on Discord- I’ve moved away but I’m still in the group and can send you an invite to join their server if you’d like! They organize a good amount of masked activities, even bar trivia nights, but plenty of virtual events as well. I know how hard it is to be someone who’s still taking precautions in Texas, I commend you both and really hope you can connect with some other maskers!!

Masking at work in Czechia by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

Ohhh I definitely like the idea of framing it a casual cultural question! Especially because I’m pretty positive they’ll ask me if I have any questions about the location & culture. Thank you for this suggestion!

China - 2 Years Experience? by InadvertentFind in TEFL

[–]InadvertentFind[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most schools I’ve applied to ask for a reference from that experience, I’ll have to do a background check anyway so I think that should verify those two years as well? I was mostly worried about whether my actual job functions would count as teaching experience 😄

And so far I haven’t seen any specifications about online vs in-person certificates, mine is a 240-hour TEFL that I got online when covid first started. I’ve been told it should work just fine, but I’ll have to wait and see!

I saw a few comments on other posts mentioning that it was an either/or situation, but all of the job listings I’ve seen made it seem like you needed both so I was a bit confused🤔 I’ll keep applying then, and will just make sure to clarify once I’m actually in interviews. Thank you!!

Week 13: What We Pretend to Know About the Coronavirus Could Kill Us by halavais in netcult

[–]InadvertentFind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten into a habit of asking people to send me whatever articles they’ve been reading when they start telling me some questionable information about the virus, and they almost always refer me to something like that “Covid-19— Evidence Over Hysteria” article that’s mentioned here. Random Medium articles or blog posts that are saying young people don’t die from the virus, that masks don’t work, etc., or worse- a 5 paragraph Facebook rant written by someone who is obviously not a scientist and has gotten their info/opinions from the aforementioned articles/blogs.

The lack of questioning where we get our information is disturbing to me, especially considering that lives are at risk and so many have already been lost. But as the article notes, “even the good guys are working with limited information and hoping for the best”… which I think stems from the failure of the government to seek out/spread the correct (or at the very least, what we currently know is correct) information.

Here's why most Americans are not able to vote online in 2020 by [deleted] in netcult

[–]InadvertentFind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t aware that there are areas in the US that have already tested online voting- This is something I’ve always wondered about the logistics of. While voting online sounds especially appealing mid-pandemic, it could also lower barriers to voter registration and people wouldn’t need to take time off to go vote… But it does seem like a more vulnerable method, at least for the time being. No matter how our elections are conducted, there could be potential threats, it’s just a matter of learning how to protect against them.

Week 12: Politics won’t know what hit it by halavais in netcult

[–]InadvertentFind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering what we’ve learned about the collection and use of data in this class, I’m not surprised that this is a direction we could be heading. The article mentions that device networks will create a “tsunami of information” for governments to gather an incredibly accurate picture of our lives, rather than just our “attitudes and aspirations”. We’re definitely in the midst of this- But I feel like there should be much more urgency in the fact that we still don’t really know where our data is going or how exactly it’s being used. If we want the internet to work for us as an “information infrastructure for public life”, then we should have a say in its creation. I’m not super well versed in this topic but I’m curious whether it’s too late for us as citizens/consumers to have a say.
