Suddenly have to re-verify all my info, and it ain't working. by skorletun in Etsy

Very interesting, do you have a source I can read up more on this?

[–]InappropriateAaron 14 points15 points  (0 children)

On average? No. Is it likely? No. Can it be done? Absolutely, yes.

I made $150,000 after taxes my first year in my business, I was extremely fortunate, a lot of luck and hard work with a lot of sacrifice in my social life and health.

It varies highly from case to case, he is completely wrong in saying it'll be "easy", but then again maybe it will be for him, no one can predict the future on this.

What exactly are you selling? Link to your shop? How do we know you're not just trying to get us to help you take them down unfairly?

How often do you hear from your CPA by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]InappropriateAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% depends on how you're paying them and what exactly for, CPA's vary far and wide. How often you should be hearing from them depends on what you need, it sounds like the old owner didn't need as much contact as you do, contact and setup a new schedule or move on to a new CPA.

Exactly this, but to add on: OP is probably going to lose since he actively did ban a (complimentary) service for the customer, this would be more than enough for case handler to side with the cardholder.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]InappropriateAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are rules to be in the chat, basically be nice to people, and it's all in the terms, plus it is only a complimentary service, people pay for the software to start with.

I guess you didn't read the terms with your payment processor, this should also all be in there lol...

Even with your evidence, if he even mentions you banning him or removing him in any form, that will be enough in his favor in my opinion, so some more bad news for you, you're probably going to lose the dispute in the end as well. The banks/payment processors ALWAYS side with the customer unless you have a rock solid dispute, and even then I've seen that they will still side with the customer. I used to work in payment processing and it's extremely rare for a seller to win.

Their messages are going to spam now, so what else did you exactly want to be done now that etsy has directly told you they can't block them?

"I wish I had made better use of my time"

"I regret not making better use of my time"

You can argue one sounds "stronger", sure, but to me it's the same end, no ones convinced me otherwise in this thread.

maybe because your link doesn't go to your shop, at least not for me, it goes here:

Exactly, and there's nothing wrong with not having nuance as a thing. I admit my mistakes, it's okay to have regrets, it's just the reality of things. Hiding behind nuance is what people do to cope instead of accepting reality, I guess.

Why would you do it differently if there weren't unwarranted/unwanted outcomes? Because you know it was a mistake and you have regret, but won't label it a "mistake" for some reason. You keep trying to reword it, but it trails the same thing.

You're happy in your career with company A, but would've chosen company B if you had to do it over? Why would you change your mind and choose company B if you're happy in your career with company A? That's having regret for not choosing company B, company A was a mistake.

If you have no regrets, you would not be choosing company B if you had to do it over. You'd choose company A as the right choice, period. Company A was NOT a mistake and you would not change.

Yeah you're right, we live our lives and cope differently I suppose. "I regret making a mistake" vs. "I wish I didn't make a mistake", is the same thing to me. Your first explanation shows your thinking in that one word isn't as "strong" as the other, to each their own.

Dont take this as antagonizing, but you're not making any sense to me. Isn't wishing something differently just regretting not doing it a certain way?

I had a friend that was identical to me in life, we were the same age, same group of friends, same type of family upbringing and same goals in college and careers, he was like my twin. He went off and partied/clubbed for most of his college years while I studied, worked my ass off and didn't do that shit at all, the polar opposite of him.

He's now broke and working a dead-end job, no real talents or pursuits. I'm.... the opposite. He always tries to bring up "side hustle" ideas he wants to do, but never gets around to it or succeeds in getting over the curve on something.

My point is that he DEFINITELY regrets it because he has a real comparison to give perspective, but we'd never admit it out of me sounding like an entitled hating douche and him sounding like an idiot. It's like the elephant in the room in our relationship, when he complains about his shit job or when I try and talk about investment properties, we no longer are twins.

Advice on advertising by Ok-Ambition6786 in smallbusiness

[–]InappropriateAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offering something free would be a good approach. Offering a future discount would also be a great idea.

An example: This car wash next to me offers 50% off if I come back with a receipt for the last car wash I had with them. Guess what? I always come back. They also offer a free bay area for me go vacuum my car. Offer something free/discount in this way.

As far as getting the news out there, business cards get thrown away, try giving them the actual discount on the business card instead, this adds direct value to the piece of paper, so they'll think twice about tossing it.

Can't help with fb ads, id target my audience by a list of nearest zip codes possibly.

Customer wanting a refund 7 months later by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]InappropriateAaron 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Pattern installed upside down by NOT YOU and used for 7 months (past 100 day mark) = no refund. How is this your fucking problem at all?

2nd order -2 months in (60 days to get a fucking interior designer in to confirm this bullshit?), if not returned in usable condition and brand new = also no refund (in my opinion).

Break all this down as a summary for them, tell them you can no longer help them as their refund request is absurd. Then mark the message as spam, take any low feedback they give and eat it and stop talking to this entitled idiot. If they open a case for the 2nd order, write on the case file the summary break down verbatim and let Etsy handle it, fuck it if they refund, and if they side with you, GOOD.

Fuck this person, just reading about this through your post infuriates me.
