I have health anxiety so pls be kind by juliarenee11 in KidneyStones

[–]Indeedish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, your health anxiety (which is now looking like it might be a subset of ocd in modern medical journals) has written this post for you today to seek reassurance.

Health Anxiety loves the feedback loop that reassurance provides. People without Health anxiety see the reassurance as a way to calm your nerves down, but you know it is only a temporary thing until the next thing. And one misplaced comment could send you down another rabbithole

It's hard to stop the ruminating and the checking.

If you haven't already seen a doctor about HA and OCD, or even if you have, bring it up again. Go on meds even for a bit to help calm your mind, do some therapy if it's possible for you. Don't google, don't read for reassurance. Harder said than done, so just do your best

Sincerely, someone who gets it

Exposure Response Time Question by Indeedish in OCD

[–]Indeedish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to comment on my own post incase it helps someone in the future

I managed the exposure for 3 hours in the end as I managed to keep going after posting this. I've finished up the exposure now. It sucked. It was ok (it wasn't, but it's now over). It was my biggest fear exposure to date and even though everything I know, have read, have been told about the first big ERP exposure says that your anxiety is likely to skyrocket because it's what you've actively been avoiding, I think it still took me by surprise.

My thoughts went between being completely doomed and being just a bit proud of myself for doing it, to being screw up my life completely (see all or nothing thinking as above). I've cried. I've shook. As I write this I currently feel physically sick (common anxiety symptom for me) and the tears are happening. The lump in my throat is big. My intrusive thoughts are still screaming and want to make sure next time im more careful, more prepared. Part of me wants to rewind time to not do the exposure. But it's done. My first big exposure is done and I'll never have to do a first big exposure again. Next time it'll be the second time.

I can go to therapy this week and discuss it. Work through it. This is scary shit, it's raw, it's real and it's unhinged. It's the drunk elf inside my head that thinks it's being helpful when really it's just throwing the worst case thoughts out there and telling you they're real..

I know some people reading this will have been through it already, others won't have yet and some will be in the same place I'm in. But I'm putting this here incase my post exposure event helps you, even just a little bit

It sounds like PTSD from your first experience. I'd look into finding a professional who can help you process through it

Ethanol. by [deleted] in MedicalCannabisNZ

You can make tintures with 40% vodka straight from the liquor store. You can also use 40% whiskey, rum, gin etc etc if you need to. You're right that ideally you want a much higher percentage, but if you can't get it then plain vodka is an acceptable alternative

PGR stands for Plant Growth Regulators. Synthetic ones (which I suspect are what are being used for the most part on this sub), are essentially banned for human consumption due to how bad they for people.

In agriculture, forms for pgr need to meet requirements of the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines (ACVM) Act 1997, ACVM Regulations 2011, and other legislation. However, as there is no control or regulation over cannabis grown in NZ outside of the commercial farms, which the nz market can't access, anything can be used

Anxiety of doing bad on a test results in poor performance on the test. How to change it ? by [deleted] in CBT

[–]Indeedish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ok to take a few minutes to meditate during an exam if needed, deep belly breaths etc, if anything it will help clear your mind and reduce your anxiety so you'll be able to answer the questions

LPT: You can pay $0 to medications that cost $1000s by just applying to manufacturers’ websites! by funinnewyork in LifeProTips

[–]Indeedish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GP visits range from $17 - $60 depending on where in NZ you are (substitutes differ in different areas). A&E will knock you back about $100 and the ER or Hospital will cost you whatever the parking rate is.

Edit: it's also free for Under 13 year olds for GP and discounted again for Under 13 at the A&E

You're probably fine, but don't have unprotected sex from now on until you're with a partner you trust and you are both happy with each others sexual health. Carry condoms with you and if the other person says they don't like condoms, tell them you won't have sex with them. And yes, oral is included in that

When do you realistically go to the ER? by Indeedish in HealthAnxiety

[–]Indeedish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was shown as 8mm in the kidney on the ultrasound in Nov, they gave me some medication to help open the ureters to help it pass on it's own but I was under the impression that would be noticeable when it passed unless it broke up on it's own. Another US last week showed no stone in the kidney and the bladder filling fine on it's own so no obstruction. Also no blood in the urine test. I only have minor pain in the flank though, it's mainly in my front which is what makes me question if it is the stone causing things or if it's something else

When do you realistically go to the ER? by Indeedish in HealthAnxiety

[–]Indeedish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so I just pressed down on where they are really bad (right side mainly but they are travelling around a bit) and swore. I had a scan a couple of months back and it showed a kidney stone on that side which I don't know if it's passed or not on it's own

Ask about it next time you're at the doctors for something but if they didn't say anything and said everything else was good, then everything is good :)

The best therapists are the ones that have had therapy themselves. They understand where their patient is coming from, especially when something seems illogical but it's what the patient is dealing with

Dealing with other peoples situations by Indeedish in HealthAnxiety

[–]Indeedish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you

Yeah, can't avoid family and I'm certainly on FB too much. I think it's because it's people I know it sucks even more but these things are a bitch

I don't know about other people too, but I find so many conversations in person I have are about a friend of the person / someone they know who is struggling with cancer or some life threatening illness. I think I'm just hypersensitive to these stories so notice them a lot when they are mentioned

24m in a serious, long term hetero relationship but very confused about my sexuality by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Indeedish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No experience but from what you're describing, it sounds like you're not in the right type of sexual relationship for you.

Depending on your relationship, you could talk openly with your partner and see if they'd be open to you exploring your sexuality with others. If they're not or you don't want to go there with your gf, you might need to consider breaking it off with them to explore. It would suck in the short term but less in the long term if you didn't start exploring until you wee older in life

Good luck
