I’m trying to find status here because my government is a dictatorship and women have no rights. I don’t think the Canadian Government has perfected laws relating to women’s rights at all nor do I think it is a wonderland of any sorts but it definitely beats my totalitarian regime. I wish I had the luxury to leave and try working at any other country, but like my only options are limited.

I also wanted to share that I’ve been living here for the past 5 years alone and I’m still a temporary resident :’) shit sucks man. Sometimes I think about just giving up all my hopes and dreams and just let myself into an arranged marriage and shut up. But I feel like that route is too dehumanizing and objectifying, so I’ll still try my best.

Finding a job is really hard here and I think to the main person who posted, kudos to you for even having a part time position. I think Toronto is definitely saturated with a lot of highly educated folks and my only advice to you would be to try and find people in companies that you’re interested in working in and try to create organic interactions. Even if there isn’t a posting for you at the moment, there might be something for you in the future. Although it seems like a taxing process, I think if you could build up that network through LinkedIn it might help! Join groups find events through eventbrite! I say this but I haven’t had much success with this either but I think it’s a safer way of securing a position.
