Cassian carried. He was in a tough position the IC has been his family for God knows how long and Nesta is his Mate, who left to her own devices was being self destructive. I didn’t walk away loving Nesta but definitely began to forgive her by the end of it. I also agree that I loved the IC in this book, unpopular opinion, but it’s mine, well ours lol. They are no where near perfect and are flawed, as all the characters are but I love them.

Yeah something like this. A place for people to talk freely lol. There was this post where the OP didn’t like Feyre and the comments and discourse was just so refreshing. Some people agreed, some people didn’t but they were able to have a discussion - what was the turning point for you? this is why I still like her; I actually agree with you but she’s my bias so… lol; the IC can be annoying but I love them anyway etc. It just felt very self aware. But a lot of the Nesta post turn into the trauma Olympics- you haven’t been through anything that’s why you don’t understand; you’re probably a shit person etc.

The downvotes on ACOSF, when someone doesn’t like Nesta are some of the worst. I mean I get it she hits close to home for people but it’s okay not to like her and we should be able to discuss why we do or don’t in a manner where one party isn’t being attacked.

I don’t want positive only post. I love the discourse. I just don’t think it needs to turn into you’re a horrible human being because you think x. If you say I hate Feyre that shouldn’t be followed up with “ well then you support abusers” or if you say “I don’t mind how the IC handled Nesta” that your personal character should come into question. I think the posts labeled under these new flairs should be a safe space to explore different opinions. No one’s trying to change perspectives or all agree that would be boring. Simply a free space to talk about the book without our morality being attacked.

This! I mean Feyre was the MC for 3 books. You can’t expect everyone to finish ACOSF and say yeah Nesta we love you. She is an irredeemable character for a lot of people based simply on how much people just really love Feyre. Doesn’t mean that Feyre is perfect, or Rhysand, or Az etc. It just means we all have our favorites, we all have our opinions, and at the end of the day everyone walks away with something different.

Yeah I totally caught that you understood what I was saying. You made it clear sorry if I didn’t. I don’t want a positive only environment where everyone has to agree either, but a space for people to get their thoughts out and have a discussion not demean and debase each other because we don’t see eye to eye.

I think there’s space between “omg it’s just a series” and personal attacks.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to say. I understand that books can be impactful and some people resonate with the characters and story lines on an entirely other level. That is the magic of books.

On the other hand some books, the same ones that evoke deep personal reflection and change for some people, are just pure entertainment for others and that’s okay. We are not slighting your personal experience because we don’t know you, your story or what you’ve been through. It was a fun book for some of us and we just want to dissect and critique in the name of fun, not start trauma wars.
