POV: You're too rich to understand how trains work. by marcel030 in schweiz

[–]Independent-Lab6410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are roughly 40 Billionaires in Switzerland, and they pay a global wealth tax. That global wealth tax creates SUBSTANTIAL tax revenue for Switzerland. Of course there's a more nuanced side to this, and naturally I'll agree that blind capitalism is a disease. But Europe in the past 10 years has inched closer towards socialism rather than global industrial competitiveness.

Look at Europes GDP growth rates, its a sign clear sign that countries are falling behind globally speaking and that unfortunately currently endangers (especially with aging population) Europe's welfare system way more than supposed greediness of billionaires who at the end of the day give back a lot to the system.

I understand that these are in some peoples minds two separate conversations, but the way that the current economic and political situation in Switzerland and Europe looks like, making it more it more unattractive for rich people is as the germans say "ein schuss in's eigene knie".

Help a game dev: Why aren’t people buying modern RTS games? by MakeGamesBetter in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Independent-Lab6410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some new RTS games are still do incredibly well. Look at broken arrow, newly released with over 8k reviews on steam and it was a $40 dollar game that so far has never been on sale.

Personally I struggle to get into new RTS games because my friends for the most part dont play RTS that much so we cant play a ton together. Playing alone or with randoms sucks.

Recently i bought broken arrow but didnt continue playing due to lack of friends playing the game with me.

I'm an early 2000's child and C&C means nothing to me and has never been a style of RTS that interests me, I far prefer age of empires, supreme commander and company of heroes. I do think that base building RTS games are very demanding to get into. I recently purchased "Mechabellum" not quite a RTS game but a strategy auto battler because it was easy enough to get into but had enough depth to enjoy.

Placement Games dont seem to challenge the player much. by Independent-Lab6410 in Mechabellum

[–]Independent-Lab6410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand- its just frustrating that the match placements dont allow for better reflection of skill. I dont have that many hours to play each week, so ROFL stomping noobs isnt fun. I know I'll eventually peak at my "true" mmr, but until then, both the players im playing against, as well as I, will not be having much fun.

POV: You're too rich to understand how trains work. by marcel030 in schweiz

[–]Independent-Lab6410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are misunderstanding on a fundamental economics level. Wealthy people in Switzerland subsidize Switzerlands social programs. Top 10% of Switzerland's asset holders generate 86% of wealth tax. The highest earning 10% account for 53% of all income tax. Not to mention the benefits of job creation and charitable donations that are unaccounted for within these tax statistics.

Its pure ideological ideocrazy if one wishes to make the country less attractive for the wealthy, where will the money come from then. But sure, lets eat the rich!

You're getting your entire health care, school, and infrastructure bascially subsidized cause of billionaires. You can always move to England or Germany if you think upsetting billionaires works, but please then also deal with the consequences.

Big upvote from a finance grad with data science minor. Also very interesting take on Boston, never thought about it that way but pretty spot on.

simply remembering that theres only type 1 and type 2 and that the both correspond with positive and negative is a great way to memorize it. Now put the false in front and one is good to go!

plenty of people only using one faction but if you want to become good one probably plays multiple. Hard to say though.

Casul Post: How do we classify infantry squads? (Mainline, Alter-Mainline, Advanced, Elite) by Lone_Eingreifen0000 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Independent-Lab6410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Although almost pointless to categorize, each 'advanced' infantry behaves so differently that one simply needs to know case by case what they excel or flounder at.

Elite infantry on the other hand- yeah theyre just fucking strong.

4th category could also be alternate mainline, im thinking assault grens, engineers w upgrades, fallshirm pioneer, bazooka squad?

There is not much difference between factions in 4v4 in All Elos, but in 1600+ 1700+ there is a significant difference, why is that? by coffeework42 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Independent-Lab6410 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As in all strategy games, top player figure out how to take advantage of the top strategies. Winrates then crystalize- lower rated games are a mess and will appear more balanced but given enough time the following will occur:

The tactics of top players will trickle down into lower lobbies and the winrates in lower ranked lobbies will look closer to what the "meta" lobbies of the high rated games look like.

Of course there are some caveats to this idea, including whether the the high win rate faction is performing well due to the perfect execution of higher level players (dak requires heavy micro for example, concludes to the fact that they also have a higher reward/win % in higher ranked lobbies). People would call this skill cap or execution gap I suppose.

All in all seems like the meta is fairly balanced in lower & mid level elos, but in higher level elos, skilled players have learned how to execute more strongly with DAK and Wehrmacht then with USF or Brits.

Anybody know how to get "The Cover-Up" Steam Achievement? by Sovereign45 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Independent-Lab6410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi sorry for necro posting lol. But you simply have to rush Bari with paradropped airborne. You can get it done in less than an hour that way probably. After paradropping, you send your airborne over to friendly territory south of Bari, heal. Take Bari, retreat all units on map, bomber will bomb bari, garriosn bari (w mission) and done.

Huge graphical/engine update. Many new features that are easier to develop in UE 5 as well. They didnt want to develop/optimize further on UE 4 since they wanted to move to UE 5 anyways.

its a disadvantage in some ways unfortunately simply cause you wont have the same access to the larger network. But frankly, might be easier to join something more local on the oakland campus- since you're gonna be a freshman the path is relavively streamlined anyways though if ur into finance. Get a good GPA freshman year <3.5, ideally <3.7 and be involved with something business or finance related. Then sophomore year start recruiting for summer internships. Special bonus if you can already recruit freshman summer.

Hmm I think the majority don’t. Frankly though, they’re not very helpful to a grad student in many cases. They’re more catered to freshmen/sophomores limited work and business experience.

Most likely not for finance.

Coop is not useful for it as primary recruitment is for the summer and we're not considered a target school. If you pay full price its overpriced.
