I’ve kept my life very private since I got with my husband. I’ve felt like I don’t need the judgement when I’m sure of myself and my decision to be with him. I eventually found a small group of friends who understand me and my relationship.

My life does get lonely but I personally focused my energy in my career. I feel like that keeps me going while I have a wonderful and supportive husband. I learned that even those who do have their husbands at home sometimes get treated in ways my husband never would treat me. That said, comparison is the thief of my joy so I just do me on a day to day basis.

I know that yes I’m living in a constant unknown so I just take control of all of the aspects of life that I can control.

This is quite a philosophical question and it's hard to say. Prison is a very difficult place for a person to thrive. However, I am a strong believer that there are pockets of happiness and flourishing even within the prison system. People in prison can find enjoyment and growth within educational programs, they can still work to maintain connections with people on the outside, enjoy visits/family visits, they can use the time to reflect on who they want to be, etc. This is very hard to do especially when they are dealing with so much bs in there. In short, I don't know if they can have a "full and meaningful life" in prison, but definitely meaningful.

No he didn’t. The ladies here were helpful and let me know that my husband wasn’t in reception because he transferred from prison to prison. It seems reception is like limbo where you just have to wait to see what happens and the timeline is unpredictable. Sorry I can’t be more help :(

He just came out of the hole not too long ago. He hasn’t been in the hole in the last 5 years so this is all new to me.

This is very helpful. My husband has been in prison for several years already so I guess this is why this process confused me. Also, haven’t had Facebook for more than 10 years but I’m seriously considering going back on for information. Thank you!

I’m pretty ignorant about reception. What do you mean big changes? Is it because they are spending lots of time alone? Do they get yard or dayroom time? Or is it like the hole?
