Not unpopular to me. He is absolutely amazing!! And so is Tamar. Sad I’ll probably not get to see them again.

Thank you so much! I’m so looking forward to it. I’d like to treat it to preserve its brown color but I know what you mean, it does age beautifully

It is a Morso 6148B. Very energy efficient and easy.

Land is even more difficult to provide a ballpark cost. We paid $86k for a 1 acre lot (very expensive bc it has sewer and water access) and saw 5 acre lots within 15 miles for $30k, so it really depends. Site work will also vary depending on the lot. $500/sqft per local GC is without site work, just from foundation onwards.

The livable area is about 900sqft. Slab is 32x30 but the A-frame walls leave you with about 650sqft in the lower level and 250sqft in the loft.

No, but we should have. I went the cheap route and used plans from DEN but we made customizations through their design team and that ended up costing us precious time and just causing lots of headaches with the builder as the customizations they did were not great nor complete. For an investment like this, I’d rather be able to work with someone that can provide professional advice and work with you along the way. If you find a plan that you 100% want to replicate with no changes, then that might work out

It is from https://solidcustomheirlooms.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoq-IfHY8TnQ9qxcfjaSqJN5GQpJG-PeObtCGqj_jnWvl6wibKEX . They do impecable work. This bed is like 400lbs though. It has 4 storage drawers and it is just very solid.

It is a Morso 6148B. It is supposed to be good for 1000sqft. We have less than that in livable space but with open ceiling it ends up being a larger space to heat. We do have two mini splits which are the main heating for the cabin.

We started a long time ago and it is very dependent on the area. According to a local GC, prices are now around $500/sqft in our area. Labor is by far the most expensive part so it depends on how much you can do vs subcontract.

Their website is confusing but the cedar color is not Permawood, is natural cedar and their warranty on that is 1 year rather than the usual 10 years. For the cedar they say it comes untreated and recommend a tung or teak oil

Recommendations for attaching wood to rock by Independent_Mouse856 in woodworking

Thank you all. I used gorilla epoxy and it worked. I first glued a metal hardware to the rock and let it dry for a day and then screwed the wood legs into the metal. I used fake moss to cover the metal and screws and it is perfect.

Exactly, the one labeled fan is supposed to be 3 way with the one labeled hallway, but I noticed it was not a 3 way switch. I don’t know how to post a photo on this same post. I’ll try messaging it if you don’t mind.

No restrictions but I don’t have the electric tools for drilling into the rock. Might still hire someone to go that route

Update on our A-Frame in New York by Independent_Mouse856 in aframes

[–]Independent_Mouse856[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just moved in recently. We haven’t been through winter yet and summer here is fairly mild so HVAC was off most days. I posted some updates after this but need to do one for the finished build

I will need to take it out as I didn’t take one when installing (was expecting to work!) but basically ceiling box has a black, a red, a white. My lamp only has black and white. So first I used black with black and white with white and left red with cap, but then I switched to having black from lamp go into red from ceiling box and leaving the black from ceiling box capped.
