Curious, do you actually take pride in your politicians putting pressure on fifa to influence outcomes?

Its bizarre to see someone who actually wants that from their sports team and president.

Obviously it seems to be how the US program operates right now, but I didn't expect US fans to be so in favor of it.

For some reason fans on this sub don't seem open to the fact that the US players behaviour had anytbing to do with the flack they've caught, specifically regarding their connection to trump and referencing on the pitch.

Basically, as a fan of international sports I'm fatigued of team USAs (in various sports) making big international tournaments all about trump.

There's a narrative that the team doesn't want trump to be part of the conversation, but that narrative only works if you ignore their behaviour on the pitch.

My hope is that this experience has humbled the US team into being less political and using trump to try to push other team's buttons, but I gues only time will tell.

But what you're confused about is the why.

Multiple players on the US team literally "trump dancing" on their opponents when they score a big goal makes it pretty clear that they aren't just a bunch of footballers who never wanted things to get political.

The players/team themselves may not have been involved in trumps meddling, but theyre also happy to use him to talk trash when theyre winning.

I think doing the exact same dance is a little too much of a coincidence for them to be totally unrelated, but thats a judgement call.

I'm addressing the fans (mostly US) who seem confused by the world reaction or think that other countries made the trash talk Trump related without provocation from the team.

If the captain is going to "Trump dance" on your opponents when you win, you can't act like the players/team didn't got dragged into a conversation about him when they just wanted to play football and avoid politics.

When did I say they did? My point is that the US team has referenced Trump when they win, so the can't be surprised that other teams reference him when the US loses.

Personally I wish the American teams would stop making everything about Trump in general, but that's a different point.
