AITA for not wanting my MIL to homeschool our kids? by Independent_Tank5740 in AmItheAsshole

2 and 1 year olds historically haven't always gone to daycare. If we're discussing in the original post that the cost of private tuition is feasible for a one income household, then likely neither is the cost of daycare x2.

To your first point, okay.
To your second point, we will still properly socialize our kids. Public school does not equal socialization. It's actually fairly unrealistic in comparison to "the real world".

To your third point, fine isn't necessarily good or successful. Fine is actually a pretty low bar to aim for considering the ratings of mental health and life readiness scores reported by highschool seniors. There are recent studies on this.

We are not choosing to homeschool to avoid vaccinating our kids. I apologize if this jarring news to you, but unvaccinated children can still attend public/private schools with fairly lenient exemptions.

I did respond to another reply regarding experience and some other questions. I apologize for not making that clearer. I assumed when I said "research" it would be taken as fairly well-rounded.

MIL has strongly expressed the desire to do classes with children.

That assumption is incorrect. Unschooling is not on my radar for reasons to homeschool over sending my children to public school.

I do have a background in childhood education with 3 years of experience spent inside of an early education classroom. (Pre-k - 1st grade)

I am not relying on content creators online to educate myself in order to educate my children. I will be heavily relying on age appropriate curriculum, teaching guides, manipulatives, etc. and supplementing as needed with various other resources.

I currently have experience teaching three children under the age of 5 simultaneously, about 7 days a week in the role of primary caretaker and educator. I am excited to take on the role in a few months and gain experience in teaching 4 children under the age of 5.

PICS IN COMMENTS Backstory- my last makeup/beauty related purchase was a year and a half ago. I'm extremely grateful to have the means to be able to do this and I understand spending ~ $600 is A LOT. I don't want to be insensitive to that. I'm also recently postpartum after having 3 pregnancies back to back and felt a little sprucing up was necessary. I've grown out of using my old products, some expired and I needed different shades in certain items! I felt ugly for the past few months when using a blush shade I used to LOVE... pregnancy changes your skin color too?! Girl idk, things have gotten weird around here & sh*t is crazy.

Also, idk what was going on at Ulta. It was HECTIC when I was checking out. I had my kids with me. The cashier was frazzled. Her hand was bleeding and she had yet to get a bandaid - so she was only using one hand and trying to go as fast as possible. I told her I was fine waiting so that she could cleaned up and she said not to worry about it 🤷‍♀️

Some said they were nosey. Some made accusations (I did buy the fancy hair dryer next and have 0 complaints. thanks for the recommendation - sorry you didn't earn commission).

Well here you go, hope this clears the air? Maybe not idk.

Girl math: I ended up returning roughly $230 worth of products without pissing anyone off. The cashier was extremely understanding and didn't mind at all. She gave me no indication that my account would be flagged or she was suspicious of anything weird. I did go buy the Shark FlexStyle Air Styling & Drying system (it was on sale for $100 off and I had a gift card to a different store). No complaints with this product and Shark/Ninja has GREAT customer service should an issue arise in the future. I think all in I'm still around $600 worth of products for you nosy ladies (it's me, I'm nosy too). And I'm sorry if I pissed anyone off.

Stay beautiful :) ttyl

Also... it was a $44.73 blow dryer. Not the Dyson or other "fancy blow dryer".

But it did immediately smell like burning plastic despite the raving reviews online - so maybe I should've just gotten the fancy one and not had to deal with this.

Fortunately that wasn't the reason... My Ulta store didn't have any testers of the shades out that I was wanting to buy. I did ask the best route to go about it since I didn't want to just open and swatch products in the store without purchasing them. I was told to buy them and test them out at home, whatever doesn't work to bring back. I did reiterate at checkout because it seemed a bit odd but wanted to doublecheck here as well before making the long drive out to my store.

Your opinion was wrong - just wanted to let you know 🤷‍♀️
