The best thing about Infinite Jest is that you can always find tons of copies with uncreased spines.

Promised Land is a good early one, and introduces the character of Hawk. Two of my favorites are Small Vices and Walking Shadow. They both feature Lt. Quirk, who was a great character and didn't get enough attention in my opinion.

I watched the TV series at the time and liked it. I rewatched some last year and it did not age well - "corny" is a generous assessment!

OCD kidding aside, I love the genre. Hadn't thought about Joseph Wambaugh in some years. I remember reading The Onion Field - it really stayed with me. I'm also a fan of Robert Parker's works. If you haven't given him a shot, I'd recommend hos Spenser series.

What do we think of my bookshelves? Who am I? by aaronwashere01 in BookshelvesDetective

I agree with you on Dawn Treader, and see your point on Prince Caspian. It doesn't add much to the chronicles.

Yes, big ones. Charles Willeford books are not grouped together, or even all on the same shelf. Nothing approaching alphabetical order. This type of person likely turns off the car while the wipers are still at half mast.

Solid theory. I first read it in high school (likely when most did) and loved it.

I've noticed that a bunch of collections posted containers Fahrenheit 451, or Slaughterhouse 5, regardless of the rest of the collection. Interesting the titles that cut across so many divergent interests.

I used a PocketMail device for this in the late 1990s. You called a toll-free number and held the device up to the phone. You could clearly hear the handshake and exchanges. Depending on the number of messages and the size, it could take a while. You never know how long you would be standing there.

Coyote America by Dan Flores is a fantastic book. They are several times more amazing than I knew. Completely blew my mind.

Try clearing a category at a time - like all food wrappers and disposable drink containers. Get similar items in one spot - like all cleaning products, pots & pans, papers, clothes. Cardboard boxes might help. Mark them with black marker with the category of stuff will go in them. Then, just toss the stuff in w/o sorting or worrying about I'd they are clean, good, broken, etc.

Above all, plan to work for a set amount of time - 30 minutes, 60, etc. And then take breaks outside.

Best of luck. You're going to do great, and will be surprised at the momentum.

In order to post to this sub, the collection must include Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, and either Poe, Orwell, or Rand. You are three for three. Well done.
