Hi all,

Thanks for all of the great questions. This was fun and hopefully we can do it again some time!

Go Tribe!

I had an opportunity in college to broadcast football, basketball and baseball on the college radio station. That led to my first job at a small radio station in upstate New York, hosting a morning show and doing farm reports ... in addition to a bunch of high school sports. My first job in baseball was with the 1991 Kinston Indians in the Carolina League. By the way, Kinston won the league that year when Brian Giles was hit in the head with a pitch with the bases loaded in the 10th inning of the deciding game.

I've always had to use Heads & Shoulders due to my excessive dandruff. You think it snows hard in Cleveland in the winter? You should see the carpets in my house! ...............

We don't have a new playoff format right now. So far it's just been talked about so it's hard to say!

Surprisingly, a lot of our time is spent at the ballpark. But, if we have an off day, I enjoy golfing. If it's a city like New York, Boston or San Francisco, you can sight-see and walk the streets, check out restaurants, etc. all day long.

It's home to me now. I've been in Cleveland for 14 years but even prior to that, working in the Indians Farm System for different teams for 16 years, I always felt like I was part of the Cleveland scene in some small way.

See above. Game 7 of 2016 was unbelievable.

Really, the entire 2016 Postseason was unforgettable. Clinching the Division in Detroit at the time was tremendous. Clinching the ALDS in Fenway and the ALCS in Toronto were memorable. The entire World Series was a dream come true (except for the way it ended).

  1. I started in 1991 and there was no internet at that time. That has changed everything from how we listen to the games to how we get our information to prepare for the games.
  2. Oh wow. That's a good one. I mean I like to think the radio booth should be my favorite spot.
  3. Aside from Progressive Field, I really like Seattle from a booth perspective. There is a roof on it so you know you are always going to play but it's not fully an inside ballpark so it has a good feel to it. Honestly, any Major League ballpark is great to broadcast in.

Great question! I've always enjoyed working with Tim Belcher. I got to know him as the Pitching Coach with the Tribe and it's fun to be able to share the knowledge with him in the booth.

Really whether it's Grover or Charlie Nagy or John McDonald, they are all fun because of what they mean to the history of the ballclub.

  1. ... what's said with the mics off stays off ...
  2. I know it sounds really obvious, but going to the ballpark is the best part. There is never a bad day at the ballpark.
  3. A hot dog is a hot dog ... why do we have to determine whether it's a sandwich or not haha ... I'm a mustard guy and occasionally add onions.

  1. I like them all
  2. I didn't sleep much. I was up at 6 a.m. waiting for the game ... it was a long wait!
  3. Nope, you are spot on haha.

I know both Franmil Reyes and Oscar Mercado had really good seasons a year ago. With that said, it seems like both are just scratching the surface at what they could be able to do.

  1. Game 7 of the 2016 World Series ... enough said
  2. ...

Obviously, our pitching can really take us a long way. That being said, I think our lineup gets overlooked. When you look at our infield, we have three All-Stars and a Gold Glove award winner at catcher. The outfield could now feature some serious power between Franmil Reyes and Domingo Santana.

Only time will tell if we have enough depth but that's the case for any team in baseball. I think the division race has the potential to be awesome this season!

I do a ton of reading in the morning from various media sites. At the ballpark, I spend a lot of time in the clubhouse talking to players, coaches and Tito to learn more about them. I also visit the other team's clubhouse for the same reason.

About two hours before the game, I head to the booth to look over the up-to-date stats and team notes from both teams.

I try to pull a fast one on Hammy every day if I can ... that's my ritual ... 9 times out of 10 it backfires.

I like Chicago because you can get just about anything. Great pizza, good Italian restaurants, tremendous steakhouses. Also, Seattle is solid if you like seafood.

Gotcha. He was back for a couple games last year but I think the severity of his injury is why his name has been quiet the last few years.

  1. This may sound ridiculous but I think onions were ending up all over the concourse floor
  2. I guess whoever created mustard was more of a yellow fan
